The Mark Of Cain (Civilians)<\/p>\n

The Mark of Cain guitarist Josie Scott has come out as transgender.<\/p>\n

In a moving post shared to Facebook on 2 February, she shared that she has struggled with gender dysphoria since she was \u201cabout eight years old\u201d. \u201cI\u2019d always assumed I\u2019d just live my life, complain a lot, and die,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She revealed that her close friends and family know her as Josie, or \u201cJo for short\u201d, and that on the gender spectrum she fits \u201cwithin the paradigm of being a trans<\/a> woman\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been liberating to finally live as myself albeit challenging at the same time, but the happiness I feel outweighs any obstacles I\u2019ve faced so far,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

She also shared that her decision to come out<\/a> was inspired by younger trans people.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cSeeing so many young people now able to embrace who they are and live authentically without as much b******* as existed when I was young helped shine a light on the possibility that maybe I can finally be me in my autumn years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scott also confirmed that her gender identity will not change her involvement with the Australian alternative metal band.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll continue to write, record and perform hard heavy music and I may look a little more androgynous but everything else remains the same,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
