SPRINGFIELD, Mass. \u2013 Senior Gabriela Jaquez<\/a> has been named a Mid-Season Top 10 candidate for the 2026 Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced Wednesday.

\nJaquez has impressed in her final season with the blue and gold. She’s averaging a career-best 14.4 points per game; the wing has scored in double figures in 17 of her 22 games this year. She’s also pulling down a career-best 5.6 rebounds per game.

\nThe Camarillo, Calif., native is in hot pursuit of joining the 50\/40\/90 club – the wing is shooting a scorching .570\/.458\/.889 through 22 games. She’s the only player in the NCAA averaging 14+ PPG, 5.5+ RPG, 1+ 3PM and shooting 50 percent or better from the field and 45 percent or better from beyond the arc.

\nIn mid-March, the Mid-Season Top 10 list will be narrowed to just five, and in late March, the five finalists will be presented to Erving, Miller, and the Hall of Fame’s selection committees, where winners will be selected. The Selection Committees for the Julius Erving and Cheryl Miller Awards are composed of top men’s and women’s college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers.

\nThe winner of the 2026 Erving and Miller Awards will be presented on a to-be-determined date, along with the other four members of the Men’s and Women’s Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Bob Cousy and Nancy Lieberman Awards (Point Guard), Jerry West and Ann Meyers Drysdale\u00a0Awards (Shooting Guard), Karl Malone and Katrina McClain Awards (Power Forward), and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Lisa Leslie Awards (Center).
