Kensington Palace described the video as \u201ca reflection on the non-linear nature of a cancer journey from diagnosis through to recovery\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Why cancer rates are soaring \u2014 for women under 50<\/a><\/p>\n Previously, the princess has spoken about experiencing \u201cgood days and bad days\u201d as she recovered from cancer and has said that she would prioritise \u201cdoing what I can to stay cancer-free\u201d.<\/p>\n Kate, 44, was diagnosed with cancer after major abdominal surgery in January 2024.<\/p>\n Kate with Peter Burton, who has Multiple Myeloma, a cancer which affects the bone marrow<\/p>\n CHRIS JACKSON\/PA<\/p>\n In March of that year, she recorded a video in which she said that she had endured an \u201cincredibly tough couple of months\u201d after her diagnosis, which came as a \u201chuge shock\u201d.<\/p>\n She said: \u201cTests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n The chemotherapy, which took place at the Royal Marsden in southwest London, began in late February 2024 and required the princess to enter through a back door to maintain her privacy and prevent her from being seen by other patients before her announcement.<\/p>\n The Princess of Wales posted the video on Instagram<\/p>\n She made an emotional return to the hospital in January 2025 after being announced as the hospital\u2019s joint patron alongside her husband, the Prince of Wales.<\/p>\n As she arrived, she joked that she had made \u201cso many quiet visits\u201d in \u201csecrecy\u201d, adding that it was \u201cquite nice\u201d to finally see the reception area.
