\n\tBad Bunny<\/a> made history as the first Latin artist to deliver a Super Bowl <\/a>primarily in Spanish \u2014 and he went all out. The superstar staged an upbeat blowout for the books, complete with dancers, tons of Puerto Rican pride, and even a Lady Gaga<\/a> appearance.<\/p>\n

\n\tBad Bunny kicked off the performance with \u201cTit\u00ed Me Pregunt\u00f3\u201d as he walked through a set full of Puerto Rican traditions, from pava hats to men playing dominos. He then transitioned into \u201cYo Perreo Sola\u201d with an army of dancers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tHe blazed through gigantic reggaeton smashes like \u201cSafaera,\u201d \u201cParty,\u201d \u201cVoy a Llevarte a PR,\u201d and \u201cEoO.\u201d This was the most high-octane part of his set, and it saw him dancing atop La Casita, the pink traditional Puerto Rican house that has become a staple during his shows and features special guests. For the Super Bowl, La Casita was filled with stars like Jessica Alba, Karol G, and Pedro Pascal.<\/p>\n

\n\tBut the biggest surprise came when Lady Gaga came out to perform a salsa version of \u201cDie With a Smile.\u201d Behind her, Bad Bunny\u2019s backing band Los Pleneros de la Cresta played the updated arrangement. Eventually, they moved into hi salsa hit \u201cBaile Inolvidable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bad Bunny then played \u201cNuevayol\u201d before sliding into \u201cLo Que Paso a Hawaii,\u201d which featured Ricky Martin. Quickly after, Benito showed off his Puerto Rican pride with the anthems \u201cEl Apagon, and \u201cCafe con Ron.\u201d For the grand finale, he ended with \u201cDtMf\u201d and a giant blaze of fireworks. In between, he shouted out \u201cGod bless America!\u201d and named every country in Latin America.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt\u2019s not Bad Bunny\u2019s first time on the Super Bowl stage. He popped out to sing his Cardi B hit \u201cI Like It\u201d when Jennifer Lopez and Shakira headlined in 2020. Still, his halftime show has been among the most anticipated ever: It was as historic as it was controversial, igniring a fervor in MAGA circles. Right-wingers took issue with the NFL\u2019s headliner choice, with many blasting it as \u201cun-American,\u201d despite the fact that Bad Bunny is from Puerto Rico and a U.S. citizen. The organization Turning Point USA even went as far as staging an \u201calternative halftime,\u201d which featured Kid Rock. Donald Trump said he didn\u2019t know who the artist was and that the choice was \u201cridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bad Bunny kept pretty quiet. During a press conference a few days ago, he explained that his main priority was highlighting Puerto Rican culture. \u201cI want to bring to the stage, of course, a lot of my culture, but I don\u2019t want to give any spoilers,\u201d he said. He continued to play up the celebratory aspect of the performance: \u201cIt\u2019s gonna be fun and it\u2019s going to be a party\u2026People only have to worry about dance \u2026 I think there\u2019s no better dance than the one that come from the heart.\u201d<\/p>\n
