\n\tNika King<\/a>\u2018s landlord has nothing to worry about. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe actress and comedian was confirmed for Euphoria<\/a> season three following some viral jokes she made during a stand-up routine about struggling to pay her rent due to the long hiatus between seasons of the HBO<\/a> hit.<\/p>\n

\n\tNow, the network has released a first-look photo (below) of King, who plays Rue\u2019s (Zendaya<\/a>) mother, in season three, along with the message, \u201cWe\u2019ve come a long way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLast March, King made headlines<\/a> for mocking the long wait for the new season, since the last Euphoria episodes aired in February 2022.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSeason three is coming out \u2026 I don\u2019t fucking know,\u201d King said on stage. \u201cDon\u2019t ask me, I don\u2019t know. \u2026 \u2018We need season three!\u2019 Bitch,\u00a0I\u00a0need season three! I haven\u2019t paid my rent in six months. And Zendaya\u2019s over in Paris at Fashion Week. I\u2019m like, \u2018Bitch, come home! I need you! Mama needs you.\u2019 I called Taraji, and she was like, \u2018Bitch, get used to it,’\u201d she said \u2014 seemingly referring to\u00a0Taraji P. Henson\u2019s statements<\/a>\u00a0about pay disparity for Black actresses in the industry.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe comments were taken quite seriously by some fans online who worried about King\u2019s financial situation, but she later posted a statement clarifying that fans had no reason for concern.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMy reference about\u00a0Euphoria\u00a0during my stand-up tour was a lighthearted joke,\u201d she wrote at the time. \u201cMost people have seen me portray serious characters on-screen but my roots are in comedy. I actually have a few film projects releasing this year that I\u2019m excited about. It\u2019s a blessing to craft a career in both drama and comedy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKing plays Leslie Bennett, the mother to Zendaya\u2019s Rue, in the HBO series from creator Sam Levinson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tShe has since starred in Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot and is in preproduction on A Thanksgiving Christmas.<\/p>\n
