Olivia Colman has an unexpected take on her gender identity. <\/p>\n

The Oscar winner, 52, said that she feels like she\u2019s \u201cnonbinary\u201d and \u201ca gay man\u201d while discussing her relationship with the LGBTQIA+ community in a new interview with the outlet Them<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s a community that I love being welcomed into,\u201d Colman, who stars in the new LGBTQIA+ movie \u201cJimpa,\u201d said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI find the most loving and the most beautiful stories are from that community,\u201d she continued. \u201cAnd I feel really honored to be welcomed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cCrown\u201d actress went on, \u201cThroughout my whole life, I\u2019ve had arguments with people where I\u2019ve always felt sort of nonbinary. Don\u2019t make that a big sort of title! But I\u2019ve never felt massively feminine in my being female. \u201c<\/p>\n

Colman shared that she\u2019s \u201calways described\u201d herself to her husband, Ed Sinclair, \u201cas a gay man.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he goes, \u2018Yeah, I get that,’\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n

The couple<\/a> \u2014 who have been married since 2001 \u2014 share three children: sons Finn, 20, and Hall, 18, and a 10-year-old daughter whose name they\u2019ve kept private.<\/p>\n

During her interview with Them, Colman explained that she feels \u201cat home and at ease\u201d with the LGBTQIA+ community.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like I have a foot in various camps. I know many people who do,\u201d she shared. \u201cI don\u2019t really spend an awful lot of time with people who are very staunchly heterosexual \u2026 The men I know and love are very in touch with all sides of themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking more about her marriage to Sinclair, Colman said the pair \u201ctake turns to be the \u2018strong one,\u2019 or the one who needs a little bit of gentleness\u201d in their relationship.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe everyone has all of it in them. I\u2019ve always felt like that,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n

In \u201cJimpa,\u201d Colman plays a filmmaker named Hannah who travels with her nonbinary teenage daughter Frances (Aud Mason-Hyde) to visit her gay grandfather Jim (John Lithgow) in Amsterdam.<\/p>\n

Colman told Them how she could relate to her character in the film.<\/p>\n

\u201cI suppose I am on the outside. I have a heterosexual relationship,\u201d she said. \u201cBut in the world I live in, I\u2019m with queer community a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n
