The Flaming Lips<\/a> have expanded their 2026 UK and Ireland tour with three new dates. Find all the details below.<\/p>\n

The Grammy<\/a>-winning psychedelic rock band are due to hit the road on these shores this summer, following a run of shows in North America and Europe.<\/p>\n

Their UK and Ireland leg will kick off with a performance at the Heineken Big Top in Galway, Ireland, on July 16. Support at this Irish-exclusive gig comes from special guests Mercury Rev<\/a>.<\/p>\n

From there, The Flaming Lips will head to The Piece Hall in Halifax (July 23) with The Beta Band and Glasgow\u2019s Kelvingrove Bandstand (27). They\u2019ll also make appearances at Latitude 2026<\/a> in Suffolk and Nottingham\u2019s Splendour Festival.<\/p>\n

Now, the group have added a trio of shows to their UK schedule for this year. These are the Dreamland Margate concert series with The Beta Band (July 18), Wolverhampton\u2019s Civic Hall (21) and Cardiff\u2019s Depot (29).<\/p>\n

The latter date will see The Flaming Lips deliver a \u201cmighty show including two wholly unique sets, at what will be only their third Cardiff show in a 40 year career\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Flaming Lips released their 16th and latest studio album, \u2018American Head\u2019<\/a>, in 2020.<\/p>\n

Last month, Steven Drozd shed light on his exit from the band, saying he had hoped to stay a part of the line-up after \u201cstepping back\u201d from touring<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWayne [Coyne, frontman] and I disagreed on what I should do moving forward, so we just kind of agreed that I would step back,\u201d the musician explained. \u201cThen, stepping back turned into not coming back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Drozd had announced his departure at the end of last year<\/a>, saying: \u201cThey\u2019re done with me \u2013 but we\u2019re not talking about it. So yes I\u2019m moving on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Drummer Matthew Duckworth Kirksey has also addressed Drozd\u2019s departure,<\/a> talking up the current incarnation of The Flaming Lips. \u201cThere is new music on the way and I think it\u2019s the best thing we\u2019ve done in ages,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Flaming Lips have expanded their 2026 UK and Ireland tour with three new dates.
