Nicole Richie<\/a> is simply showing her daughter some love.<\/p>\n

Indeed, after Harlow Winter Kate Madden\u2014who now goes by Kate\u2014debuted a new tattoo that acts as a subtle nod to her mama, Nicole shared her support.<\/p>\n

In photos posted to Instagram<\/a> Feb. 9, the 18-year-old showed off her new ink\u2014a pair of angel wings between her should blades\u2014while wearing a backless gold dress. And Kate\u2019s body art comes with intention. After all, Nicole has a similar tattoo of angel wings spread across her upper back.<\/p>\n

As for how Nicole reacted? She commented three heart emojis.<\/p>\n

Kate\u2019s new look comes after The Simple Life alum\u2014who shares Kate and 16-year-old son Sparrow Madden with husband Joel Madden\u2014revealed that her daughter doesn\u2019t go by her birth given name<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201c18 years of you @katemaddennn,” Nicole wrote on the Jan. 12 Instagram<\/a> tribute alongside sweet throwback photos, while Joel added in the comments section, “That\u2019s my girl.”<\/p>\n

But according to the House of Harlow 1960 founder, that\u2019s the name Kate always favored<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe goes by her middle name,” Nicole told People<\/a> in an interview published Jan. 15. “She has her whole life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though fans were surprised to learn of the teen<\/a>\u2019s preferred name, it\u2019s nothing new for Nicole.<\/p>\n

“I didn’t look,\u201d Nicole said of the online reaction to her post, “but it makes sense.”<\/p>\n

While Nicole didn\u2019t explain why Kate uses her middle name instead of her first name, the couple previously shared how they picked out her full moniker.<\/p>\n

“I wanted a hippie name,\u201d Nicole told People shortly after giving birth in 2008, \u201cand he wanted a more biblical name.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Joel, 46, noted that he\u2019s a fan of actress Jean Harlow, his wife “likes Shalom Harlow the model,\u201d and the rest was history<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Good Charlotte hitmaker continued, “Harlow’s cool because it feels like a classic name.”<\/p>\n

As for how Kate had Winter were added to her moniker? Well, Joel noted how the couple finds the season to be “so serene and quiet.”<\/p>\n

“I always liked the name Kate,” Nicole added of her daughter\u2019s second middle name, “but I knew I’d never name my kid that because it was just too plain.”<\/p>\n
