Britney Spears<\/a> has sold her music catalogue, according to the New York Times<\/a>. That catalogue contains dozens of genre-defining pop hits \u2014 like \u201cOops! \u2026 I Did It Again,\u201d \u201cStronger,\u201d \u201cToxic,\u201d and \u201cPiece of Me\u201d \u2014 all of which make up the soundtrack of our collective millennial childhood. Per the Times, Primary Wave, a music and marketing company that specializes in catalogue acquisitions, bought Spears\u2019s share of the music rights. The exact sale price and terms of the deal are still unknown, though a source described<\/a> the agreement to TMZ as a \u201clandmark deal\u201d that took place at the end of December.<\/p>\n Spears joins a growing list of artists selling off the rights to their music for big pay days. In 2023, Justin Bieber sold<\/a> his catalogue and the rights to his publishing and artist royalties to Hipgnosis for an estimated $200 million. A source told TMZ that Spears\u2019s payout was likely in the neighborhood of Bieber\u2019s deal. Bruce Springsteen, Shakira, Stevie Nicks, and Sting have all followed suit.<\/p>\n It\u2019s unclear what exactly all of this means for Spears, but it sounds like she\u2019s excited to cash out.
