\n\tHarry Lawtey<\/a>, Farhan Akhtar<\/a>, Lucy Boynton<\/a> and Morfydd Clark<\/a> are boarding Sony and Neal Street\u2019s The Beatles \u2013 A Four Film Cinematic Event from Oscar-winning filmmaker Sam Mendes. The below-the-line team was also announced Thursday, with production currently underway in the UK for an April 2028 theatrical release.<\/p>\n

\n\tLawtey, who plays Robert Spearing on HBO\u2019s Industry, will portray Stuart Sutcliffe aka \u201cThe Fifth Beatle\u201d and the band\u2019s original bass guitarist who left the band to paint in 1961. His high point with the band was singing \u201cLove Me Tender,\u201d which reportedly rubbed Paul McCartney the wrong way. Sutcliffe created a reputation for playing with his back to the audience, though that has been denied by the group\u2019s first drummer Pete Best.<\/p>\n

\n\tAkhtar (Bhaag Milkha Bhaag)\u00a0will play Ravi Shankar, the Indian sitarist and classical musician who had an influence on George Harrison, and the ultimate use of Indian instruments in some of the Beatles\u2019 music.<\/p>\n

\n\tBoynton is playing British actress Jane Asher, who was McCartney\u2019s fianc\u00e9e initially, and who served as the inspiration for such Beatles ditties as \u201cAnd I Love Her,\u201d \u201cWe Can Work It Out,\u201d \u201cYou Won\u2019t See Me,\u201d \u201cI\u2019m Looking Through You,\u201d \u201cWhat You\u2019re Doing,\u201d \u201cThings We Said Today\u201d and \u201cFor No One.\u201d Asher accompanied the Beatles to\u00a0Rishikesh\u00a0in 1968 to attend Maharishi Mahesh Yogi\u2019s transcendental meditation\u00a0training sessions<\/p>\n

\n\tClark is Cynthia Lennon, the first wife of John Lennon, and mother of Julian Lennon. They met at a college party but their relationship became undone, first by John\u2019s use of LSD, and second by his love affair with Yoko Ono (Cynthia found letters between the two).<\/p>\n

\n\tAs previously reported, Mendes is making four individual feature films from each of the bandmember\u2019s POV \u2014 John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, marking the first time Apple Corps Ltd and the Beatles have granted full life story and music rights for a feature movie. Mendes is directing all four films and producing alongside his Neal Street Productions partner Pippa Harris and Neal Street\u2019s Julie Pastor. Alexandra Derbyshire is also producing.<\/p>\n

\n\tBehind the camera on Beatles is Oscar\u2013winning cinematographer Greig Fraser (Dune\u00a0and\u00a0Dune: Part Two), Oscar\u2013winning editor Lee Smith (Dunkirk, 1917), and production designers Stefania Cella (Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, The Pale Blue Eye),\u00a0Mark Tildesley (Jay Kelly, Banshees of Inisherin) and Neal Callow (Bob Marley: One Love, Spectre).<\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition there\u2019s BAFTA TV\u2013nominated costume designer Sin\u00e9ad Kidao (Joy, The Pursuit of Love) and Oscar\u2013nominated hair and makeup designer Naomi Donne (The Batman, 1917). Completing the production team are Grammy- and Emmy-winning executive music producer Giles Martin (The Beatles: Get Back, Back to Black), Oscar-winning sound mixer Stuart Wilson (Project Hail Mary, 1917), BAFTA and Emmy-winning casting director Nina Gold (Hamnet, Wonka), and executive producer\/first assistant director Toby Hefferman (F1, The Batman).<\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition to Industry, Lawtey\u2019s other credits include\u00a0The Pale Blue Eye,\u00a0Joker: Folie \u00e0 Deux, and the leading role in\u00a0Mr Burton, which was recently BAFTA nominated for Outstanding British Film. He stars next opposite Russell Crowe in the thriller feature\u00a0Billion Dollar Spy.<\/p>\n

\n\tAkhtar is an award-winning producer, director, writer, actor and singer in Indian cinema. He made his debut with\u00a0Dil Chahta Hai\u00a0(2001), earning a National Award. As an actor, his credits include\u00a0Rock On!!,\u00a0Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara,\u00a0Bhaag Milkha Bhaag,\u00a0The Sky Is Pink, Marvel\u2019s\u00a0Ms. Marvel, and most recently\u00a0120 Bahadur\u00a0(2025), in which he played Major Shaitan Singh Bhati (PVC).<\/p>\n

\n\tBoynton played Mary Austin in the four-time Oscar winner\u00a0Bohemian Rhapsody.\u00a0Her other credits include feature films\u00a0The Greatest Hits, Chevalier, The Pale Blue Eye and miniseries\u00a0A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story. She will next be seen in Jay Duplass\u2019\u00a0See You When I See You.<\/p>\n

\n\tClark broke out in\u00a0Saint Maud, for which she won a BAFTA Cymru, London Film Critics Circle\u00a0award, and earned BIFA and BAFTA Rising Star nominations.
