Now, the brand is looking to add to the tally for years to come.<\/p>\n<p>The INDYCAR SERIES announced that Chevrolet has made a multiyear commitment to be an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for the series for 2027 and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChevrolet has enjoyed a long, successful relationship with INDYCAR as an engine manufacturer, and this extension paves the way for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES to continue to grow and for us to further maximize technology transfer from race to road,\u201d General Motors President Mark Reuss said.<\/p>\n<p>Chevrolet will be a collaborator in the development of the next-generation INDYCAR SERIES chassis \u2013 which is set to enter competition in 2028 \u2013 and competition rules, and is working on a new 2.4-liter, twin-turbocharged, hybrid V6 to power its entrants.<\/p>\n<p>INDYCAR represents the top level of American open-wheel racing, with the series visiting a unique combination of permanent road courses, street circuits, and ovals. Its crown jewel is the Indy 500, held every May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.<\/p>\n<p>Chevrolet provides five teams with a 2.2-liter hybrid twin-turbo V6 making up to 735 horsepower. INDYCAR is a place for Chevy to compete, but also to develop new technologies that filter into production vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 INDYCAR season kicks off March 1 with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg and crisscrosses North America through September, with the season-finale at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey California.
