The search for Nancy Guthrie entered its 12th day on Thursday as investigators say they have fielded thousands of tips after the release of surveillance footage taken from her doorbell camera, but appear no closer to solving the case.<\/p>\n
The Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department expanded its call for video from people within a 2-mile radius of the 84-year-old\u2019s home north of Tucson, Ariz., of any \u201csuspicious activity.\u201d The sheriff\u2019s department also said that \u201cseveral items of evidence, including gloves,\u201d were recovered and are being submitted for analysis. It\u2019s unclear whether authorities believe the gloves are the same as those worn by the person seen in the footage.<\/p>\n
On Thursday afternoon, the FBI released<\/a> a new description of the suspect based on forensic evidence from the doorbell camera. He is described as \u201capproximately 5\u20199\u201d – 5\u201910\u201d tall, with an average build.\u201d The agency also provided specific details of the backpack he is believed to have been wearing and announced that it was increasing its reward for information leading to Guthrie\u2019s location to $100,000.<\/p>\n The FBI said that its agents conducted \u201can extensive search along multiple roadways\u201d in Guthrie\u2019s Catalina Foothills neighborhood on Wednesday. The search came hours after authorities released a man who had been detained for questioning for several hours in connection with her apparent abduction. The man, a delivery driver who identified himself as Carlos, told reporters outside his home in Rio Rico that he had not heard of the Guthrie case but hoped police would solve it.<\/p>\n \u201cI hope they get the suspect,\u201d he said. \u201cBecause I\u2019m not it.\u201d<\/p>\n Officials say they have received more than 18,000 tips since the investigation began, including over 4,000 since doorbell camera images of what the FBI described as \u201can armed individual\u201d on the morning of her disappearance were released.<\/p>\n Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today show cohost Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at around 9:45 p.m. on Jan. 31, when she was dropped off at her home by family members after dinner, police said.
