Director Emerald Fennell\u2019s Wuthering Heights, a loose adaptation of Emily Bront\u00eb\u2019s novel by the same name, premieres in theaters today. The romantic drama, which was filmed throughout Kent and Yorkshire in the United Kingdom, stars Margot Robbie as Catherine \u201cCathy\u201d Earnshaw and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff. But at ELLE Decor, we\u2019d also like to note the film\u2019s other stars: the historic filming locations.<\/p>\n

While most of the movie was shot on a soundstage, painstakingly constructed by production designer Suzie Davies, there were real places that portray the film\u2019s foggy, mysterious setting. Below, explore four moors and one estate that grace the screen in Wuthering Heights.<\/p>\n

Knole country house.<\/p>\n

Knole<\/a> is a 600-year-old estate located within the last medieval deer park in Kent, England. Artworks by Thomas Gainsborough, Anthony Van Dyck, and Joshua Reynolds are on display in the home\u2019s showrooms, while 17th-century tapestries and furnishings are featured throughout. In Wuthering Heights, Knole acts as the exterior of Gimmerton Town Square and Gretna Green Chapel.<\/p>\n

Seal Houses Moor, which is part of the Arkengarthdale<\/a> Estate, acts as some of the moors in the film. Commonly referred to as Arkendale, Arkengarthdale is a sprawling moorland parish that encompasses 14,180 acres. This moor is one of many parts of this particular valley; other hamlets include Dale Head, Whaw, Eskelith, Langthwaite, Booze, and Arkle.<\/p>\n

Booze Moor\u00a0<\/p>\n

An aforementioned hamlet known as Booze Moor also helps bring the exterior of the moors to life in Wuthering Heights. Specifically, this moor acts as the Procession Ridge and the area near Thrushcross Grange.<\/p>\n

Various parts of Reeth Moor appear in the film: the Old Gang Smelting Mill, which acts as the exterior of Wuthering Heights and the gate; Healaugh Crag, which portrays a few of the moors, specifically the ridge above Wuthering Heights and the waiting rock; and Lady Mary Bothy, which acts as the exterior and interior of the pub bedroom in the cabin.<\/p>\n

Bridestones Moor<\/a> was also where some of the moors scenes were shot. This heritage site is known for its uniquely-shaped stones, and it is the first community-owned nature reserve in Calderdale, a metropolitan borough in West Yorkshire, England.<\/p>\n
