The CW<\/a>\u2019s good cops must have had the day off as the network reportedly has moved to cancel one of their more well-regarded comedy shows.<\/p>\n

Good Cop\/Bad Cop<\/a> impressed critics to the tune of a 91% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but the love of reviewers was seemingly not enough to save the Leighton Meester-led show from getting the axe after season 1.<\/p>\n

There will apparently be no Good Cop\/Bad Cop season 2, after star Luke Cook went on TikTok<\/a> and announced the series\u2019 cancellation (via TVLine<\/a>). The news has not yet been confirmed by The CW.<\/p>\n

“Sad to let you know this, but we will not be doing a Season 2 of ‘Good Cop\/Bad Cop,\u201d Cook told his fans in a video. “I loved making that show. I loved making friends with everybody on that show, the cast and crew, and John [Quaintance], who wrote the show, they’re all my great friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cSo I’m sad we won’t get to do it again.” Cook then added, “It’s a tough business. Hollywood has the ability to make your dreams come true and also break your heart.”<\/p>\n

Centered on a brother-and-sister detective team on a small town police force in the Pacific Northwest, Good Cop\/Bad Cop received plenty of positive feedback from reviewers, who praised the show for its deft mix of comedy and drama, and for the performances of its main cast, particularly Gossip Girl alum Meester<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A 92% Popcornmeter rating indicates audiences have been as enthusiastic about the show as reviewers. Good Cop\/Bad Cop indeed seemed set up for long-term success when it made its Prime Video debut last July, rising quickly to place on the streamer\u2019s top 10 series chart.<\/p>\n

The show originally premiered on The CW on February 19, 2025 and seemingly aired its series finale on April 9. Described as \u201cGossip Girl meets Twin Peaks<\/a>\u201d by its star Meester, Good Cop\/Bad Cop was a co-production of The Roku Channel, The CW, and Australia\u2019s Stan.<\/p>\n

Appearing at the Monte Carlo TV Festival last year, executive producer Jeff Wachtel expressed optimism that the show would continue on to season 2, possibly with help from a new financing partner. “Our hope is that somewhere in the mix of people who have already been financing the show, Roku etc., or even a new person who comes in, [we will get to] critical mass,” he said.<\/p>\n

Despite the love of critics and a solid initial performance on Prime Video, Good Cop\/Bad Cop appears to have fallen short in its bid to secure new funding and return for season 2.<\/p>\n
