We’ll compare the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold vs Google Pixel 10. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is Google’s latest foldable smartphone, and it’s a notably different phone than the Pixel 10, of course. One is foldable, and the other is not. They do have some similarities, however, as they are members of the same smartphone series.

We will first list the specs of both smartphones. Following that, we’ll compare their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output. Both of these phones were announced in August last year, during the same press conference. With that being said, let’s see what they have to offer.

Specs

<img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="355" height="355" smartphones have a frame made out of aluminum and a glass back. In fact, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is placed on the back of both phones. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s cover display and the Pixel 10’s only display also look quite similar. They’re similar in terms of size, and both have a centered display camera hole up top. The bezels around both displays are uniform and kind of thin, though not to the extent of some other devices out there.

They both also have a flat frame all around, along with physical keys on the right-hand side. The power/lock button sits above the volume up and down keys on both smartphones. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold also has a foldable display on the inside, and that panel also has uniform bezels, along with a display camera hole, which is located in the top-right corner.

If we flip them around, you’ll notice Google’s logo in the middle, while both devices have flat backplates. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold has a squarish camera island in the top-left corner. Two pill-shaped cutouts are included inside it; those are the phone’s cameras. The Pixel 10, on the flip side, includes a horizontal camera bar, which is also pill-shaped. It’s located towards the top of the phone’s backplate.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is a notably heavier phone. It’s heavier by around 54 grams. That device is also taller, wider, and thicker when folded. Both smartphones come with an IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. Both of them are also quite slippery in the hand.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold vs Google Pixel 10: Display

The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold has a main foldable panel. That’s an LTPO OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. HDR10+ content is supported, while the peak brightness is 3,000 nits. That is an 8-inch panel, and it has a screen-to-body ratio of around 88%. The resolution is 2152 x 2076 pixels. The cover display on the phone measures 6.4 inches, and it’s an OLED panel with a 120HZ refresh rate. HDR is supported, while the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the panel. The resolution here is 2364 x 1080 pixels, while the peak brightness is 3,000 nits.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold

The Google Pixel 10, on the other hand, features a 6.3-inch OLED panel. That display has a 120Hz refresh rate and supports HDR10+ content. The peak brightness is 3,000 nits, while the screen-to-body ratio is around 86%. The resolution here is 2424 x 1080 pixels, while the display aspect ratio is 20:9. This display is protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 by Corning.

All three of these displays are really good, actually. They’re both more than bright enough, and they have great viewing angles. They’re also sharp enough and have good touch response, not to mention that they’re vivid. High refresh rate is also supported across the board. It would be nice to see Google adopt extremely high PWM dimming as well, but other than that, we don’t have any notable complaints about these panels.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold vs Google Pixel 10: Performance

Both of these smartphones are fueled by the same processor, actually. The Google Tensor G5 chip fuels both phones, which is Google’s latest and greatest Tensor chip. It is also the first Tensor chip to be manufactured by TSMC; thus far, Samsung manufactured those processors. That is a 3nm processor, and it’s paired with 16GB of RAM on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and 12GB of RAM on the Pixel 10.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold comes in several storage options (up to 1TB) of UFS 4.0 flash storage. The Pixel 10, on the other hand, is available in 128GB and 256GB flavors. The 128GB storage model includes UFS 3.1 flash storage, while the 256GB memory option has UFS 4.0 flash storage. Neither of these two Google phones supports storage expansion, however, so keep that in mind.

Both phones offer really good performance. In fact, you’ll get basically the same results from these two devices. That is not surprising considering the hardware and software similarities. They’re not as fast as some other flagships out there, but they’re not much slower either. Lag is not an issue, and they’re quite snappy in day-to-day performance. Neither one of these phones is a gaming device, but you can play games if you want. Even really demanding titles worked fine, for the most part.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold vs Google Pixel 10: Battery

The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold features a 5,015mAh battery, while the Pixel 10 comes with a 4,970mAh unit. While both devices offer okay battery life, it’s not as good as it is one some of the competitors. During more demanding days, we had to reach for a charger before sleep, and that goes for both devices. Still, for the vast majority of people, both smartphones will likely last through the day.

One thing worth noting is that using the camera does drain the battery notably faster, and gaming even faster than that, especially in truly demanding games. That’s usually the case on every phone, but it is worth noting, as it affected both devices visibly. All in all, we were not particularly impressed with battery life on either phone, unfortunately.

Both of them do support 30W wired charging, along with 15W wireless charging (Qi2). The Pixel 10 also supports reverse wired charging. Neither phone comes with a charger, though. If you end up getting a compatible charger to take advantage of full charging speeds, do note that it will take the Pixel 10 around an hour and a half to fully charge, while the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will take a bit longer than that.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold vs Google Pixel 10: Cameras

Both of these smartphones have three cameras on the back. In fact, two out of three cameras are identical across the two devices. There is a 48-megapixel main camera on both phones, and it uses a 1/2.0-inch camera sensor. A 10.8-megapixel telephoto camera is also included on both smartphones. That telephoto camera supports 5x optical zoom, and it uses a 1/3.2-inch sensor size.

Google Pixel 10

The third camera on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is a 10.5-megapixel ultrawide unit with a 127-degree FoV. There is a 1/3.4-inch sensor size here. The Pixel 10, on the other hand, has a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera with a 120-degree FoV and a 1/3.1-inch sensor size. Neither camera on the two phones has a particularly large sensor, though the main one is definitely the best.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold has a noticeably wider FoV for the ultrawide camera, which did come in handy. Both devices do a good job in terms of photos, but the pictures could be sharper. They’re also quite contrasty. Considering the hardware limitations, you’ll get good results from the two phones, but not to the level of the Pixel 10 Pro or Pixel 10 Pro XL, and they’re even farther from what the best camera phones offer.

Audio

Both the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Pixel 10 feature stereo speakers. The loudness of both setups is good, though the Pixel 10’s speakers did sound a bit louder to our ears. The difference is very minimal, though. The sound quality is very good on both.

There is no audio jack on either phone. You can utilize their Type-C ports, if you want, to connect your wired headphones. Most of you will probably utilize Bluetooth 6.0, which is supported on both devices for wireless connectivity.

In this article, we’ll be comparing two members of the Google Pixel 10 family.
