\n\tFrancis Ford Coppola<\/a> took to Instagram<\/a> on Monday afternoon to honor his longtime collaborator and friend Robert Duvall<\/a>, who died on Sunday at the age of 95.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhat a blow to learn of the loss of Robert Duvall,\u201d Coppola wrote. \u201cSuch a great actor and such an essential part of American Zoetrope from its beginning: \u2018The Rain People,\u2019 \u2018The Conversation,\u2019 \u2018The Godfather,\u2019 \u2018The Godfather Part II,\u2019 \u2018Apocalypse Now,\u2019 \u2018THX 1138,\u2019 \u2018Assassination Tango.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAs noted by Coppola, he collaborated with Duvall on seven films throughout his career: \u201cThe Rain People\u201d (1969), \u201cTHX 1138\u201d (1971), \u201cThe Godfather\u201d (1972), \u201cThe Conversation\u201d (1974), \u201cThe Godfather Part II\u201d (1974), \u201cApocalypse Now\u201d (1979) and \u201cAssassination Tango\u201d (2002).<\/p>\n

\n\tFellow \u201cGodfather Part II\u201d stars Robert De Niro and Al Pacino also paid tribute to Duvall<\/a> on Monday. Pacino wrote in a statement shared with Variety, \u201cIt was an honor to have worked with Robert Duvall. He was a born actor as they say, his connection with it, his understanding and his phenomenal gift will always be remembered. I will miss him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDe Niro wrote in his own remembrance, \u201cGod bless Bobby. I hope I can live till I\u2019m 95. May he rest in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTributes from Hollywood\u2019s biggest stars<\/a> flooded social media following the news of Duvall\u2019s death. Viola Davis wrote on Instagram that it was an \u201chonor\u201d to act alongside Duvall in the 2018 thriller \u201cWidows.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was in awe,\u201d Davis added, \u201cI\u2019ve always been in awe of your towering portrayals of men who were both quiet and dominating in their humanness. You were a giant\u2026 an icon\u2026 \u2018Apocalypse Now,\u2019 \u2018The Godfather,\u2019 \u2018To Kill a Mockingbird,\u2019 \u2018Tender Mercies,\u2019 \u2018The Apostle,\u2019 \u2018Lonesome Dove\u2019\u2026 etc\u2026 Greatness never dies. It stays\u2026 as a gift. Rest well, sir. Your name will be spoken\u2026 May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMichael Keaton, who starred with Duvall in Ron Howard\u2019s 1994 workplace comedy \u201cThe Paper,\u201d wrote in his own Instagram tribute, \u201cAnother friend goes down. Acted with and became friends. Shared a great afternoon on my front porch talking about horses. He was greatness personified as an actor. RIP RD.\u201d<\/p>\n
