\n\tDaniel Radcliffe<\/a> recently joined ScreenRant for a video interview and urged press moving forward not to ask the new \u201cHarry Potter<\/a>\u201d actors about the original cast. Dominic McLaughlin is taking over the lead role in HBO\u2019s \u201cHarry Potter\u201d series reboot opposite Arabella Stanton as Hermione and Alastair Stout as Ron.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen these kids got cast, there is a whole thing around the internet being like, \u2018We have to look after these kids!’\u201d Radcliffe said. \u201cIf you really mean that, then one of the things you can do is don\u2019t ask about us \u2013 me, Emma [Watson] and Rupert [Grint] \u2013 all the time. I would like not to be weird spectral phantoms in these children\u2019s lives. Just let them get on [with it], it\u2019s going to be a new, different thing. I\u2019m sure Dominic is going to be better than me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRadcliffe revealed on \u201cGood Morning America\u201d<\/a> last year that he wrote a letter to McLaughlin after the newcomer was announced as HBO\u2019s Boy Who Lived. The young actor later said<\/a> it was \u201cinsane\u201d to receive Radcliffe\u2019s support and \u201cI was going mad.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI wrote to Dominic and sent him a letter and he sent me a very sweet note back,\u201d Radcliffe said. \u201cI don\u2019t want to be a specter in the life of these children but I just wanted to write to him to say, \u2018I hope you have the best time, and an even better time than I did \u2014 I had a great time, but I hope you have an even better time.\u2019 And I do, I just see these pictures of him and the other kids and I just want to hug them. They just seem so young. I just look at them and say, \u2018Oh, it\u2019s crazy I was doing that at that age.\u2019 But it\u2019s also incredibly sweet and I hope they\u2019re having a great time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRupert Grint similarly wrote a letter<\/a> to Alastair Stout as the young actor takes over the role of Ron Weasley. As Grint told the BBC<\/a>\u00a0last year: \u201cI wrote him a letter before they started, passing the baton as it were. It was really just wishing him all the best with it. I had so much fun stepping into this world, and I hope he has the same experience\u2026 It\u2019s quite strange to have the cycle happening again. I\u2019m really intrigued what it\u2019s going to be like.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Radcliffe\u2019s \u201cHarry Potter\u201d experience is near and dear to his heart, he told ScreenRant that he\u2019s only ever watched his own \u201cPotter\u201d movies once or twice. He quipped that he\u2019s actually excited to show his children HBO\u2019s reboot instead. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ll probably show my kid that so he doesn\u2019t have to watch me,\u201d Radcliffe said. \u201cI think that will be more fun. I would probably enjoy it more\u2026 I hate watching myself, generally. I would like to watch the earlier films more because I\u2019m so much further away from them. When I was 18 or 10, I was embarrassed by my 10 or 11 year old self.\u201d<\/p>\n
