The Bear has become one of FX\u2019s most critically acclaimed and beloved series, but its run may be nearing an end with season 5. When the series was renewed<\/a> for a fifth season last year, the studio gave no indication that it would be the final season. However, an Instagram<\/a> post from Jamie Lee Curtis, who plays Donna Berzatto, has fans wondering if the story is about to wrap up.<\/p>\n

\u201cFINISHED STRONG!\u201d Curtis wrote on Instagram. \u201cSurrounded by an extraordinary crew and group of writers and producers and scene partners on the show that Chris Storer created, completing the story of this extraordinary family that we have all fallen in love with. Got to finish it out with my baby Berzatto bear.\u201c<\/p>\n

Curtis may simply be saying goodbye to her character, but the phrase \u201ccompleting the story of this extraordinary family\u201d certainly sounds like it could signal a definitive ending.<\/p>\n

The Fourth Season Was Supposed to be The Last<\/p>\n

While speaking on The Hollywood Reporter\u2019s Awards Chatter podcast<\/a> last year, Jeremy Allen White said The Bear was initially supposed to end with the fourth season, but creator Christopher Storer had an idea to keep it going. White even indicated at the time that there were no plans for the fifth season to be the last, but at the end of the day, it all depends on Storer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fourth season was going to be the last,\u201d he said. \u201cChris [Storer, creator and co-showrunner] called me on Christmas Eve last year and was like, \u2018We\u2019re gonna do some more.\u2019 And, I don\u2019t know, that could happen again around this holiday time. There\u2019s no plans for it to be the last. There\u2019s no plans right now for us to do more. I think it\u2019s just all dependent on what Chris wants to do. But if it was up to me? I just feel so lucky to read Chris\u2019 words, and also to work with these actors who\u2019ve become some of my best friends, so I\u2019d do it for a very long time.\u201c<\/p>\n

The Bear has been one of my favourite series of the past few years. Still, it\u2019s not the kind of show that can run forever, especially as its leads, Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, continue to fill their schedules with new projects, making it harder to reunite the cast. As bittersweet as it would be to say goodbye to the Berzattos, I\u2019d rather see The Bear go out on top with season five.<\/p>\n
