Veteran actor Neena Gupta recently revisited an uncomfortable memory from the shoot of the popular song \u2018Choli Ke Peeche\u2019, reflecting on how her perspective has evolved over the years. Speaking on Shubhankar Mishra\u2019s podcast, she spoke about filmmaker Subhash Ghai asking the costume designer to \u201cmake her appear fuller\u201d for the sequence and suggesting that she wear a padded bra.<\/p>\n

Neena Gupta recalls feeling \u201cvery angry\u201d when Subhash Ghai asked her to wear a padded bra for \u2018Choli Ke Peeche\u2019: \u201cHe was just doing his job\u201d<\/p>\n

Recalling the moment, Neena said, \u201cAt that time, I felt very angry and thought it was inappropriate to say something like that. But now I feel he was just doing his job. He had a certain image in mind for the character in the song, and he expressed it plainly. I was new then \u2014 today I understand it differently.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor explained that while the remark initially upset her, with time she has come to view it within the context of filmmaking and character presentation. Her reflection offered insight into how her understanding of creative decisions and professional expectations has matured over the years.<\/p>\n

During the same conversation, Neena also opened up about her personal life and marriage to Vivek Mehra. When asked whether she married for love, she offered a candid response, suggesting that marriage can sometimes feel necessary to function comfortably within social structures.<\/p>\n

She spoke about the way society perceives single women, saying, \u201cSo when I go somewhere, people look at me in a strange way. I don\u2019t enjoy it. I don\u2019t feel comfortable. If you get married, everything seems to become fine. In society, the moment you wear a mangalsutra, people think everything is perfect, even if things are actually falling apart inside. Maybe you\u2019re not even living together, maybe there\u2019s no love, but society assumes you\u2019re now \u2018perfect.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

On the professional front, Neena is currently seen in Vadh 2, which released on February 6. The film co-stars Sanjay Mishra and is backed by filmmaker Luv Ranjan\u2019s production banner.<\/p>\n
