\n\tAmanda Seyfried<\/a> has scored one of the biggest box office hits of her career with \u201cThe Housemaid<\/a>,\u201d which has grossed a mighty $374 million and counting worldwide on a reported $35 million budget. Seyfried was recently promoting the film on \u201cThe Graham Norton Show\u201d and was asked about the movie being a boost to her career not only as an actor but also as an executive producer. The Oscar nominee openly admitted the latter title was a pure vanity credit.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m a producer on it and I didn\u2019t know until three weeks in,\u201d Seyfried said. \u201cI saw the call sheet and I was like, \u2018Executive producer? I didn\u2019t sign up for that.\u2019 I called one of the producers and was like, \u2018You guys have me on as an executive producer.\u2019 And he was like, \u2018That\u2019s what your agent negotiated.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Well this really better be a hit then.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt was one of those vanity credits, because I didn\u2019t do shit to make that movie. I only acted in it,\u201d Seyfried added. \u201cThat\u2019s the thing about vanity credits. I don\u2019t want people to get it twisted. What Margot [Robbie] does is really intensely develop movies from jump. I just jumped in, had a bunch of fun and left. And now, I\u2019m like, they\u2019re sending me on a vacation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Housemaid,\u201d based on Freida McFadden\u2019s best-selling\u00a0novel of the same, stars Sydney Sweeney as Millie, a young woman trying to escape her past who is recruited to work as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Skelnar), who have dangerous secrets of their own.<\/p>\n

\n\tVariety reported last month<\/a> that Lionsgate is currently developing a sequel with Sweeney and director Paul Feig based on McFadden\u2019s \u201cThe Housemaid\u2019s Secret,\u201d the second novel in the book trilogy. The first movie\u2019s screenwriter, Rebecca Sonnenshine, is returning to adapt the next book. Sweeney and McFadden are attached to executive produce once again.<\/p>\n

\n\tSeyfried\u2019s name was nowhere to be found when news broke of \u201cThe Housemaid\u2019s Secret,\u201d although she told Graham Norton that she wants nothing more than to be involved with the sequel. The problem is that her character, Nina, is not included in the book as Sweeney\u2019s characters goes to work for a new family. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNo one\u2019s said anything about No. 2, but I guarantee there will be No. 2,\u201d Seyfried told\u00a0Variety\u2019s\u00a0Marc Malkin before official news of the sequel was announced. \u201cAnd I almost guarantee that I\u2019m gonna be some small cameo in it, because it\u2019s about Syd and her working for a new family. And there\u2019s so much that happens, especially with Michele\u2019s character Enzo. I really wanna see how she keeps Nina Winchester in her pocket, because I will jump the fuck back into that.\u201d<\/p>\n
