There\u2019s nothing new about low-carb beers.<\/p>\n

But let\u2019s be honest, they\u2019ve had a pretty bad reputation ever since Pure Blonde hit the bottle shop shelves about 20 years ago.<\/p>\n

Why should beer drinkers have to sacrifice taste just because they\u2019re going for a slightly healthier option?<\/p>\n

Carlton Dry\u2019s lower carb offering may just be the antidote to this sickness.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s not much of an aroma when you initially crack the tinnie. You\u2019ll notice a slight hint of malt and a touch of banana.<\/p>\n

It pours a crystal clear, amber hue with a frothy head.<\/p>\n

On your first sip you may notice the tiniest hint of sweetness but that\u2019s quickly overtaken by a dry, refreshing lager taste.<\/p>\n

It is super smooth, with no particular hop flavour and a very low bitterness (IBU 9). The ABV (4.5 per cent) is enough for it to be classed as a full strength beer, which helps it pack a bit more of a punch than you\u2019d expect.<\/p>\n

For a low-carb beer (it\u2019s marketed as 85 per cent fewer carbs than Carlton Dry) it actually tastes pretty good. It\u2019s definitely better than a Pure Blonde and very sessionable.<\/p>\n

And the best bit? The price is just $26 for eight cans \u2014 a bargain in today\u2019s market.<\/p>\n

SHOULD I SHARE IT?<\/p>\n

Stock up on these for a party \u2014 they\u2019ll go far and will be an easy crowd-pleaser.<\/p>\n
