Cavaliers at Thunder (1 ET, ABC): Winners of seven straight and 5-0 since pairing James Harden with Donovan Mitchell, Cleveland is pressuring the Knicks for 3rd place in the East, while a short-handed OKC team has won three of its last four.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got so many weapons,\u201d Harden said of Cleveland. \u201cIt\u2019s not even about scoring the basketball, but just seeing everybody get involved.\u201d
\nHarden can do both these things at a historic level, ranking 9th all-time in points (28,897) and 12th in all-time assists (8,717)
\nPaint Pass: With at least eight assists in each of his five games with the Cavs, Harden has helped his new team jump from 13th to 5th in points in the paint (55.2)
\nJarrett Allen benefits most in this stretch, soaring from 19th to 3rd in the league (16.8) in points in the paint, and tying for 13th in overall scoring (113 total points)

Nuggets at Warriors (3:30 ET, ABC): Denver enters having scored the most points in an NBA game this season in Friday\u2019s win (157), with the Murray-Nikola Joki\u0107 duo flexing for 42-combined points by halftime. They conclude a three-game roadtrip in the Bay.<\/p>\n

Denver Duet: Alongside another dominant year from Joki\u0107 \u2013 leading the league with 12.3 rpg and 10.5 apg \u2013 Murray is scoring and assisting at a career-high (25.6 ppg, 7.6 apg)
\n\u201cSometimes he has a lot of assists, sometimes he has a lot of points. He\u2019s giving us that stability,\u201d Joker said of Murray. \u201cHe can dominate the floor.\u201d
\nMurray\u2019s career-year is making him that much more dangerous in his two-man game with Joker, ranking 3rd in total points off handoffs and 5th in points as the pick-and-roll ball handler this season

The Lakers are set to unveil a statue honoring former head coach Pat Riley (3:30 ET, NBA TV) prior to the game, and NBA.com\u2019s Shaun Powell broke down what Riley\u2019s dominant tenure<\/a> means to the franchise:<\/p>\n

\u201cRiley was the director of Showtime, and for those who were born too late and missed the fun, he was a combination of smarts and sharp dressing, the coolest coach in the room and very often the best prepared.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It takes a certain type of coach and personality to meet the Showtime expectations of the purple & gold, and Riley exceeded his, winning four NBA championships in seven Finals appearances across his nine seasons in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Three of those seven Finals appearances, and two of Riley\u2019s four titles, came against today\u2019s opponent, the Boston Celtics. The historical link that makes this rivalry so iconic even extends to the teams\u2019 statues, with Boston being the only other franchise to immortalize a coach: the great Red Auerbach.<\/p>\n

These days, the rivalry persists under the guidance of two young, analytical coaches who are more friends than nemeses: Redick and the C\u2019s Joe Mazzulla.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a really good friend,\u201d Redick has said of podcast guest<\/a> Mazzulla. \u201cI\u2019m probably one of [only] two coaches that he\u2019ll speak with during the season.\u201d

Cooper Flagg is in the top-10 for total clutch points scored (82).<\/p>\n

The 2025 Rookie class has left an impactful mark thus far.<\/p>\n

But, as NBA.com\u2019s Steve Aschburner writes, that doesn\u2019t mean rooks are completely exempt from their usual duties \u2014 even if the demands are less these days.<\/p>\n

\u201cPacking and providing a teammate\u2019s favorite soap or lotion can be part of an NBA rookie\u2019s \u201cto-do\u201d list\u2026 Occasionally, there will be pink \u201cHello Kitty\u201d backpacks to tote on the road all season, more of an initiation than a helpful chore.<\/p>\n

All of it is part of a tradition in sports that pre-dates even the Basketball Association of America\u2019s arrival in 1946-47, a ritual for rookies repeated season after season as a way to (cough) welcome new guys into the group.<\/p>\n

\u2026 But here\u2019s the good news for NBA rookies: It all seems to be toning down. A random sampling of first- and second-year players at All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles discussed required basic chores, but none complained about anything nasty.<\/p>\n
