Connor Storrie<\/a> has been the name on everyone\u2019s lips since he shot to global stardom in Heated Rivalry<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The actor portrays arrogant-but-actually-sweet Russian ice hockey player Ilya Rozanov, opposite Hudson Williams as his love interest Shane Hollander.<\/p>\n

The show follows them as they navigate their secret romance on and off the rink, with fans around the world falling in love with both the characters and the actors themselves.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s plenty more to come, as it\u2019s been confirmed that season two of Heated Rivalry<\/a> is on the way. And both Storrie and Hudson both got announced for their next roles<\/a> this week too.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also Storrie\u2019s birthday today (February 22), just over a week after his co-star Williams turned 25<\/a>.<\/p>\n

So as Connor Storrie celebrates his 26th birthday, we\u2019re taking a look at some of the many reasons why fans have fallen in love.<\/p>\n

Incredible acting<\/p>\n

Connor Storrie is from Odessa, Texas, but you wouldn\u2019t be judged for thinking he actually was Russian after seeing him in Heated Rivalry.<\/p>\n

In the show, he perfected Ilya\u2019s Russian accent and Russian lines, so much so that some of his co-stars thought he was fluent.<\/p>\n

He told Behind The Blinds<\/a>: \u201cIt was about time and consistency. The moment I got out of the car on set, I started speaking with the accent to all the PAs, all the ADs, hair, makeup and wardrobe people. I stayed in it until the last cut of the day. Not because I was \u2018in character\u2019, but because it gave me an hour and a half to warm up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Storrie\u2019s convincing accent and performance in the scenes set in Russia even fooled people on set.<\/p>\n

He explained on Late Night With Seth Meyers that during those scenes \u201calmost all the background [actors] were Russian\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis Russian lady, this older lady, I came back in to reset and she starts [speaking Russian],\u201d he said. \u201cAnd then I\u2019m like, \u2018No, I don\u2019t\u2026 I don\u2019t do that.’\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on: \u201cThen she told the person next to her. She was [speaking in Russian] and then this man was like, \u2018Oh, she thought you were an actual Russian speaker.’\u201d<\/p>\n

He explained she didn\u2019t think he was actually Russian, just that \u201cshe thought [his] parents were Russian and [he] speaks Russian at home with a pseudo-American accent\u201d.<\/p>\n

Self-acceptance<\/p>\n

Shortly after his viral fame, Storrie\u2019s old YouTube channel was discovered by fans. Then just 12 years old, it was obvious that he had dreams of making it as an actor.<\/p>\n

But rather than delete the account, he decided to keep the videos up after learning to accept his younger self.<\/p>\n

He told People that he didn\u2019t have access to the account anymore, but a fan with links to YouTube offered to help.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, he decided against it, telling People<\/a>: \u201cIt felt cool to be like, \u2018Yep, that was me. And this is me now.’\u201d<\/p>\n

He also spoke more about his younger years with Variety<\/a>, saying: \u201cI love that little guy. I love him. I used to not like him.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on: \u201cI wanted to play pretend and play dress up and disappear into weird worlds and entertain and try to connect with people that way, and that was just not the norm out there [in Texas].\u201d<\/p>\n

He\u2019s hot, duh<\/p>\n

We can\u2019t ignore the fact that part of the reason fans immediately flocked to Heated Rivalry was, well, just how hot it was.<\/p>\n

Both Storrie and Williams spend much of their shared screentime in little to no clothes, and those scenes went viral weekly as they aired.<\/p>\n

In December last year, Storrie featured in a photoshoot with Cultured<\/a> that saw him in little more than a loin cloth \u2013\u00a0and fans went mad for it.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the photos on Instagram, one fan said: \u201cNeeded a warning for this.\u201d Another said: \u201cIt should be illegal to be so beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Someone else said: \u201cHe was wonderfully handcrafted by God himself.\u201d And another added: \u201cHe\u2019s literally a Greek sculpture.\u201d<\/p>\n

Making boundaries while still supporting fans<\/p>\n

While he plays a bisexual character in the show, Storrie makes a conscious effort to keep his real life private.<\/p>\n

He told Deadline<\/a> it was important for him to \u201chave a little bit of separation from the character in the show\u201d.<\/p>\n

But that didn\u2019t stop him for celebrating the LGBTQ+ community.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cAll I can really say is that I love Ilya, I love the community that this is a part of and that this caters to.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s so much more interesting and valuable than doing just another run-of-the-mill, straight story.<\/p>\n

\u201cWho I date, who I sleep with, who this, that, whatever, I\u2019m gonna keep that to myself. But regardless, I think this is super important, and I think also on top of that, it\u2019s just really cool.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chemistry with Hudson Williams<\/p>\n

The close bond Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams have is obvious to see.<\/p>\n

They have undeniable chemistry as Ilya and Shane, but their overnight fame was also down to their closeness away from the show.<\/p>\n

While Williams recently said they make an effort to not be joined at the hip, and avoid too many joint appearances, it\u2019s clear their friendship is solid.<\/p>\n

In fact, they each have a permanent reminder, as they got matching tattoos that read \u201csex sells\u201d.<\/p>\n

Williams\u2019 is on his upper thigh, while Storrie\u2019s is on his shin and outlined by a heart.<\/p>\n

Speaking with HBO Max<\/a>, Storrie said: \u201cWe settled with \u2018sex sells\u2019 because I think it was just kind of like a tongue-in-cheek, winky view of being a part of something like this.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went: \u201cFor some people, that\u2019s a little cherry on top of the cake to get to watch these two people fall madly in love.\u201d<\/p>\n
