The IDF and Israel police have deployed forces to the area of the village of Tel, South of Nablus in the West Bank, in response to Palestinian and Israeli reports of extremist Jewish settlers<\/a> who set fire to the entrance of the Abu Bakr al-Taddiq mosque, the IDF stated on Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“The IDF strongly condemns such incidents, including harm to religious institutions, and will continue to act resolutely to maintain security and order in the region,” the statement concluded.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to reports, extremists also spray-painted graffiti on the walls, writing several slogans such as “price tag”<\/a> and “revenge”.<\/p>\n

The Palestinian Authority’s Religious Affairs Ministry decried what it described as a nationalistic\u00a0attack on the mosque<\/a>, PA-controlled outlet WAFA reported. \u00a0<\/p>\n

In the statement, the ministry claimed that the nationalist gangs carry out daily attacks against Islamic holy sites and citizens\u2019 property, and that there has been a noticeable increase in the frequency and nature of such incidents.<\/p>\n

The ministry said that 45 mosques were attacked in 2025 under what it described as the “protection of the occupation.”<\/p>\n

It added that the burning of the mosque comes amid what it called incitement targeting Islamic and Christian holy sites, and described the incident as an attack on Muslims and their religious sentiments.<\/p>\n
