{"id":306081,"date":"2026-02-23T14:14:08","date_gmt":"2026-02-23T14:14:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/306081\/"},"modified":"2026-02-23T14:14:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-23T14:14:08","slug":"us-embassy-evacuates-non-essential-staff-from-beirut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/306081\/","title":{"rendered":"US Embassy evacuates non-essential staff from Beirut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The US Embassy in Beirut, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/article-887400\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lebanon<\/a>, evacuated dozens of non-essential personnel via Beirut\u2013Rafic Hariri International Airport, Lebanese broadcaster LBCI reported on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">This was &#8220;a precautionary measure due to anticipated regional developments,&#8221; according to the outlet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The US State Department and US Embassy in Lebanon have not yet issued an official statement on the matter, and the websites have not yet issued an evacuation warning.<\/p>\n<p>This comes as the US has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/iran-news\/article-887346\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">gathered a dozen military ships<\/a> in Middle Eastern waters and may be preparing for a bloody, extended confrontation with the Iranian regime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The current US arsenal in the area includes two destroyers in the Mediterranean Sea, one in the Red Sea, four in the Persian Gulf, and an aircraft carrier, the USS Abraham Lincoln, accompanied by four destroyers in the Arabian Sea. Another carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, also arrived in the Mediterranean Sea on Friday, accompanied by warships.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/iran-news\/article-886998\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">United States military<\/a> has moved over 50 fighter jets to the Middle East in the last 24 hours as part of its buildup of air and naval assets near Iran, Axios reported on Tuesday, citing a US official.<\/p>\n<p>A host of F-16, F-22, and F-35 jets were observed heading to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/iran-news\/article-887549\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Middle East<\/a> by independent flight trackers.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Iran <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/iran-news\/article-887561\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">may order its proxies to retaliate<\/a> against American targets worldwide should US President Donald Trump order &#8220;large-scale attacks&#8221; against the regime, the New York Times reported on Sunday evening, citing US and Western officials.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the condition of anonymity, the officials told the NYT that, while they haven&#8217;t learned of any specific plots, &#8220;heightened &#8216;chatter'&#8221; in intercepted terrorist communications &#8220;indicates some level of attack planning and coordination.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIran can work through proxies to conduct terrorist attacks that will raise costs for any US military campaign,\u201d Executive Director of the Soufan Center in New York, Colin P.
