Quentin Tarantino opened up a bit of a shitstorm last year when he took aim<\/a> at several Hollywood actors, including Paul Dano, Owen Wilson, and Matthew Lillard. While speaking with People<\/a>, Lillard opened up about the comments, which he said felt like a punch to the mouth, especially as he thinks Tarantino is a lovely filmmaker.<\/p>\n

Tarantino was focused on Dano, whom he called \u201cthe weakest f***ing actor in SAG\u201d among other things, but he made sure to mention that he didn\u2019t care for Wilson or Lillard either. <\/p>\n

Lillard didn\u2019t hide his disappointment, saying it \u201csucked\u201d to hear the remarks\u2014particularly because he\u2019d \u201clove\u201d to work with Tarantino someday. \u201cI think he\u2019s a lovely filmmaker, and to just sort of get punched in the mouth just was kind of a bummer,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

However, the amount of love he\u2019s received from fans and fellow actors has been wonderful. \u201cIt felt like I had died and was in heaven watching everyone send out their RIP tweets,\u201d he said. \u201cI mean, it was really being a part of your own wake, sort of sitting there living through all the nice things people say after you die.\u201c<\/p>\n

Lillard continued, \u201cSo it was really, really lovely. It was something that happened that was who cares, really? But I spoke out. I mean, I got caught on a hot mic talking about it, and then it sort of went viral from there\u2026 Everyone, from the people at the mall this weekend with my kids to George Clooney and James Gunn and Mike Flanagan, I mean, people have sort of been really generous with telling me how much they loved me and liked my work.\u201c<\/p>\n

Lillard is Returning for Scream 7<\/p>\n

Lillard\u2019s next project will see him return to the Scream franchise for Scream 7.
