Fiona Phillips<\/a>\u2019 husband Martin Frizell has shared an update on the TV presenter\u2019s health following her diagnosis with Alzheimer\u2019s disease, revealing that she\u2019s \u201cstill very much with us\u201d. <\/p>\n

The 65-year-old broadcaster, who hosted GMTV<\/a> for 15 years, shared in 2023 that she had been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer\u2019s after suffering with symptoms of brain fog and anxiety. <\/p>\n

Appearing on ITV\u2019s Good Morning Britain<\/a> on Tuesday, Frizell \u2013 who produced This Morning for a decade until last year \u2013 gave viewers an update on his wife\u2019s condition. <\/p>\n

\u201cTo this day, Fiona is still very much with us,\u201d he said. \u201cShe still looks the same. She was the world\u2019s most stubborn woman, and she\u2019s still the world\u2019s most stubborn woman, which is difficult when you try to give her medicine.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Phillips wrote about her experience with the disease in her memoir Remember When last year, Frizell said that she copes by refusing to speak about the illness<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHer way of dealing with it, and everyone\u2019s different, is that she doesn\u2019t want to talk about the A-word, so we don\u2019t,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cShe will just believe she has chronic depression, which she does have, which is another symptom of it as well. [She\u2019s] frightened, yes.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked by host Susanna Reid whether Phillips \u2013 whose parents both suffered with Alzheimer\u2019s \u2013 inherited the disease, Frizell said that it\u2019s not genetic but she was \u201cmore predisposed to it\u201d. <\/p>\n

\u201cShe probably knew this was coming. It\u2019s not an old person\u2019s disease,\u201d he said. \u201cYou can get it at any age, children can get it and she got it in her fifties. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe did have a test and they said it\u2019s not genetic but she\u2019s more predisposed to it because both her parents had it. We never spoke about it. Maybe we should \u2013 maybe the lesson is that people should speak about these things. It\u2019s a difficult discussion to have. What should we do if X, Y and Z happens?\u201d<\/p>\n

Frizell urged the government to put more funding into Alzheimer\u2019s research, saying: \u201cWhy are we not putting more money into Britain\u2019s biggest killer?<\/p>\n

\u201cIt seems to be that Alzheimer\u2019s is the poor relation to all the other big diseases, something like cancer. The money isn\u2019t there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Frizell and Phillips have been married since 1997 and live with their two sons, Nathaniel and Mackenzie, in south London. <\/p>\n
