The Ministry of Health (MOH) agrees that clear and implementable cybersecurity and data security standards are\u00a0necessary\u00a0for healthcare providers and their IT vendors.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">MOH has been\u00a0actively\u00a0consulting healthcare\u00a0providers and the industry\u00a0over the past few months\u00a0and will be\u00a0issuing the\u00a0revised Cyber Security and Data Security Essentials\u00a0for healthcare\u00a0providers\u00a0by\u00a0the\u00a0end of\u00a0February\u00a02026. The Essentials set out\u00a0essential\u00a0security controls, aligned with cyberhygiene standards\u00a0established\u00a0by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA),\u00a0that\u00a0are suitable for\u00a0small healthcare providers such as solo practitioners. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">MOH has also been working closely with\u00a0Clinic Management System\u00a0vendors\u00a0to incorporate\u00a0some of these\u00a0cybersecurity requirements into their systems, to reduce the compliance burden faced by healthcare providers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">MOH will be issuing other resources to provide guidance on the security measures,\u00a0including infographics,\u00a0guides,\u00a0checklists and training materials,\u00a0which are specifically tailored to the needs of\u00a0small\u00a0healthcare\u00a0providers. This\u00a0should\u00a0enable\u00a0healthcare providers\u00a0to self-help,\u00a0understand,\u00a0and meet the necessary requirements.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">MOH is\u00a0also\u00a0engaging\u00a0cyber\u00a0and data security consultants\u00a0qualified by CSA to develop standardised basic security packages\u00a0for\u00a0healthcare providers,\u00a0with transparent pricing structures, which\u00a0will address\u00a0the\u00a0concerns that Mr\u00a0Ching raised.\u00a0These consultancies\u00a0will also be asked to\u00a0clearly distinguish between\u00a0services\u00a0to address\u00a0essential\u00a0requirements\u00a0versus\u00a0optional services.\u00a0Healthcare providers that\u00a0encounter\u00a0unethical practices by such\u00a0consultancies can report them to MOH\u00a0and\u00a0CSA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The HIA\u00a0ensures that Singaporeans can\u00a0benefit\u00a0from better coordinated care, enhanced quality of care and lower costs.
