Just one week out and skywatchers across much of the world will have the chance to witness a total lunar eclipse<\/a> in the early morning hours of March 3, when the Moon<\/a> will glow red for nearly an hour.<\/p>\n

FEBRUARY SKYWATCHING GUIDE: CAN’T MISS CELESTIAL EVENTS LIKE SOLAR ECLIPSE, FULL MOON AND PLANETARY ALIGNMENT<\/a><\/p>\n

According to NASA<\/a>, the total phase of the eclipse will be seen at different local times around the world: in the evening across eastern Asia and Australia, throughout the night in the Pacific, and in the early morning in North and Central America as well as the far western side of South America.<\/p>\n

During a lunar eclipse, Earth<\/a> moves directly between the Sun<\/a> and the Moon, causing the Moon to fall into Earth\u2019s shadow and take on a reddish-orange hue; hence the name “Blood Moon<\/a>“.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This type of event can occur only during a full Moon.<\/p>\n

How and when can I expect to see the lunar eclipse?<\/p>\n

NASA said skywatchers won\u2019t need any special equipment to observe the eclipse, just a straight-line sight of the moon, but “binoculars or a telescope can also enhance your view.”<\/p>\n

The totality of the eclipse will begin at 3:04\u202fa.m.\u202fPST (6:04\u202fa.m.\u202fEST, 11:04\u202fUTC) and end at 4:03\u202fa.m.\u202fPST (7:03\u202fa.m.\u202fEST, 12:03\u202fUTC).<\/p>\n

And the entire lunar eclipse will conclude at 6:23\u202fa.m.\u202fPST (9:23\u202fa.m.\u202fEST, 14:23\u202fUTC).<\/p>\n
