The lawyer \u2014 who resides in Brooklyn, N.Y. \u2014 had to be medically evacuated from Survivor 50 on the season premiere<\/a> after he injured his ankle during the first immunity challenge. Dr. Joe Rowles later determined that he most likely ruptured his Achilles tendon, so he would need to leave Fiji to seek treatment.<\/p>\n Fraser got emotional when host Jeff Probst<\/a> told him the news, later describing the departure as “heartbreaking.” He also pointed out that the injury was particularly devastating because he was on the heels of winning Survivor season 48<\/a>. However, he has zero regrets about going out to Fiji.<\/p>\n “I had such a good time playing,” he told PEOPLE in February 2026. “Listen, this injury sucks. There’s no doubt about it. But I’ve learned so much about myself … It stinks and the payoff isn’t immediate, but I’m feeling the payoff as we speak. I get to say I’m a part of season 50. Who gets to say that?”<\/p>\n So, where is Kyle Fraser now? Here’s everything to know about his life after seasons 48 and 50 of Survivor.<\/p>\n Who is Kyle Fraser? Kyle Fraser on Survivor Season 50. Fraser was raised in Roanoke, Va., and stayed in the state to attend Hampden-Sydney College until his 2016 graduation, according to his\u00a0LinkedIn<\/a>. He later received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.<\/p>\n However, before he became a lawyer, he worked as a teacher for two years, and he credited those learning lessons as helping him win Survivor.<\/p>\n “I taught a GED and history\/humanities course at a juvenile detention center,” he told\u00a0Entertainment Weekly<\/a> in January 2025. “Understandably, learning was not front-of-mind for my students who were in such a traumatic environment. But I found ways to connect and I\u2019m proud of that.”<\/p>\n After getting his law degree, he worked at various law firms before transitioning to a judicial law clerk. Fraser competed alongside 17 other castaways in the 48th season, which was filmed from June to July in 2024. Before heading to the the\u00a0Mamanuca Islands\u00a0in\u00a0Fiji, Fraser both extensively physically and mentally prepared.<\/p>\n “I first bulked up because I was like, ‘Oh, I need to be strong.’ But then I like, sort of realized, ‘I don’t need to be\u00a0that\u00a0strong,’ ” he told\u00a0Parade<\/a> in February 2025. “So then I started what I thought about the best scenario being, putting on a bunch of weight so I can get as strong as possible.”<\/p>\n He continued, adding that he also “tried to incorporate\u00a0Survivor” into his typical life as an attorney.<\/p>\n “I have not had a disagreement with a coworker, but maybe we see something differently,” he said. “I think about, ‘How would I approach this in the game?’ And try to implement that, work on controlling emotions, or thinking through what emotion you’re feeling in certain circumstances. Little things like that over time where I feel like I’m ready to play this game.”<\/p>\n Fraser ultimately partnered with Kamilla Karthigesu, forming a secret alliance that would help him win the game. He ultimately ended up winning Survivor season 48 in a 5\u20132\u20131 vote against Eva Erickson and Joe Hunter. Although he initially could walk on it, Dr. Joe and Probst came to the Vatu camp the next day, where the Survivor doctor put Fraser through a series of extra tests.<\/p>\n Ultimately, Dr. Joe determined that Fraser had likely ruptured his Achilles tendon and should leave the game. However, he fought to stay.<\/p>\n “There was quite some negotiation with [Probst] and Dr. Joe. I cited James [Clement] from Heroes vs. Villains as precedent [for staying],” he told PEOPLE in February 2026. “When Jeff brought up the liability thing, I actually came back him. I was like, ‘I’m a lawyer. I’ll sign a waiver.’ He appreciated the advocacy, but he was exactly right in making sure I was helped.”<\/p>\n Fraser ultimately had to get surgery to treat his ankle, but is recovering. “I go to PT three times per week. I stayed in the gym 3, 4 times per week,” he told PEOPLE. “I’m stronger, from an upper body perspective, than I’ve ever been in my life.”<\/p>\n In an interview with CBS Mornings<\/a> on Feb. 26, Fraser said he’s “running [as of] three weeks ago.”<\/p>\n Fraser added that he “loved playing with my tribe” but still “cried like I haven’t cried before” after he had to leave.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you look back on that first episode, it was just so many cool things that happened in the game,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd I was excited to experience that myself.
