Though a relatively standalone entry, this is a film that\u2019s very much a part of the larger \u201cStar Wars\u201d universe and takes place after the events of \u201cStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with <a href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/why-star-wars-is-the-franchise-ryan-gosling-finally-landed-on-2000727426\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">io9<\/a> while promoting \u201cProject Hail Mary,\u201d Gosling spoke of why he avoided major franchise projects he got offered in the past, and why this one was different:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was Shawn\u2019s enthusiasm and his vision and the script, and I just avoided these things because they never felt right. And I\u2019m glad I did because I feel like, [similar to] a book like this, [it was] worth waiting for.
