Once Upon a Time in Hollywood\u2026 <\/p>\n
Leonardo DiCaprio is skipping an awards show. The star won\u2019t be attending the 2026 Actor Awards on Sunday because he is shooting a movie in Europe.<\/p>\n
DiCaprio is currently on set filming the upcoming\u00a0Martin Scorsese\u00a0project, \u201cWhat Happens at Night,\u201d alongside\u00a0Jennifer Lawrence.<\/p>\n
Viewers will see the pair playing a married American couple who travel to a small European town to adopt a baby in the psychological horror film. The movie is adapted from the novel of the same name by Peter Cameron. <\/p>\n

DiCaprio will be missing the March 1 ceremony, where he is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role.<\/p>\n
The \u201cRomeo + Juliet\u201d actor, who portrayed activist Bob Ferguson in Paul Thomas Anderson\u2019s action thriller, is up against\u00a0Michael B. Jordan\u00a0for \u201cSinners,\u201d Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet\u00a0for \u201cMarty Supreme,\u201d Ethan Hawke for \u201cBlue Moon\u201d and\u00a0Jesse Plemons\u00a0for \u201cBugonia.\u201d<\/p>\n
However, DiCaprio has already walked away a winner during this year\u2019s awards season.<\/p>\n
In January, the Oscar winner took home the Best Actor trophy at the 2026 National Board of Review Awards Gala. <\/p>\n

While accepting the statue, DiCaprio gave a nod to his father, George DiCaprio, for kicking off his love of cinema.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy father took me to see my first film in a theater when I was four years old,\u201d he began. \u201cI remember gazing up at that massive screen completely in awe, hysterically crying at the end of\u00a0\u2018King Kong.\u2019 Something shifted in me. Film became an escape from the limits of my surroundings\u2026a place where something larger than my own life felt possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOne Battle After Another,\u201d meanwhile, has continued to dominate as well, being crowned\u00a0Best Film at the British Academy Film Awards, held earlier this month. <\/p>\n
DiCaprio took the stage with co-stars Teyana Taylor, Benicio Del Toro and Chase Infiniti to support Anderson after his win. <\/p>\n

The project also won Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) at the\u00a02026 Golden Globes and was named the Best Movie of the Year at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards.<\/p>\n
With the Oscars coming up on March 15, \u201cOne Battle After Another\u201d is high in the running with 13 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for DiCaprio.<\/p>\n
And even with all of the accolades under DiCaprio\u2019s belt, teaming up with Anderson on this project<\/a> was nothing short of a dream.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen these opportunities come up, I mean, I can\u2019t say no,\u201d he, 51,\u00a0confessed to People<\/a>\u00a0about working with the director, 55. <\/p>\n \u201cI think anytime would\u2019ve been the right time, to be honest,\u201d DiCaprio explained about making a movie with Anderson. \u201cEver since I met Paul early on and I saw\u00a0\u2018Boogie Nights,\u2019 I\u2019ve been an obsessive fan of his work, watched all his movies.\u201d<\/p>\n DiCaprio, seen in the movie above, said he has \u201cbeen an obsessive fan of his work, watched all his movies,\u201d ever since he met Anderson in the \u201990s. AP<\/p>\n The star was actually offered the role of Eddie Adams\/Dirk Diggler in the 1997 film but turned it down to play Jack in\u00a0James Cameron\u2019s \u201cTitanic.\u201d<\/a> <\/p>\n Mark Wahlberg portrayed the lead in the film about a young\u00a0busboy who becomes a porn star.<\/p>\n Saying no to the role\u00a0still haunts DiCaprio to this day<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll say it even though you\u2019re here: My biggest regret is not doing\u00a0\u2018Boogie Nights,\u2019\u201d he told Anderson in\u00a0an August Esquire interview<\/a>.<\/p>\n
