Amy Madigan is now a first-time Actor Award winner.<\/p>\n
The \u201cWeapons\u201d actor scored in the supporting actress category Sunday for her performance as the unhinged Aunt Gladys in the Zach Cregger-directed horror film. She beat out Teyana Taylor (\u201cOne Battle After Another\u201d), Odessa A\u2019Zion (\u201cMarty Supreme\u201d), Ariana Grande (\u201cWicked: For Good\u201d) and Wunmi Mosaku (\u201cSinners\u201d).<\/p>\n
The win shakes up the Oscars race for supporting actress, which prior to Madigan\u2019s Actor Award victory seemed to be in Taylor\u2019s favor. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s such an honor to be here. I\u2019ve been doing this a long ass time,\u201d Madigan said as she accepted the honor Sunday evening. <\/p>\n
\u201cGladys has surprised me. She\u2019s getting a lot of love back,\u201d Madigan said. \u201cI didn\u2019t know y\u2019all want to hang out with her.\u201d <\/p>\n
The actor also offered a message of camaraderie to her fellow SAG-AFTRA members, citing the Chicago upbringing that made her a \u201cunion person.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re all union people,\u201d she continued, \u201cand I don\u2019t care what somebody says. They\u2019re not going to bust us, ever.\u201d <\/p>\n
Madigan went on to give a shout-out to her fellow \u201cWeapons\u201d cast members Julia Garner, Josh Brolin and others. <\/p>\n
Madigan was the sole \u201cWeapons\u201d star nominated at this year\u2019s Actor Awards. She also received nominations from the Golden Globe Awards, Critics Choice Awards and Academy Awards. She earned her last Oscar nomination 40 years ago for her performance as the fiery Sunny in \u201cTwice in a Lifetime\u201d (1985).<\/p>\n
