{"id":318666,"date":"2026-03-03T00:11:11","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T00:11:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/318666\/"},"modified":"2026-03-03T00:11:11","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T00:11:11","slug":"bloqe-architectura-designs-apartment-block-after-manor-houses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/318666\/","title":{"rendered":"Bloqe Architectura designs apartment block after manor houses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Local studio Bloqe Architectura created a four-bay <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/apartments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">apartment complex<\/a> with a series of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/vaulted-ceilings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">barrel-vaulted<\/a> spaces that open up to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/rooftop-gardens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">rooftop gardens<\/a> overlooking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/mexico-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Mexico City<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Known as Mariano Azuela 194, the narrow building sits in a mid-block infill site in the historic neighbourhood of Santa Mar\u00eda, which is characterised by late 19th and early 20th-century architecture.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2301827 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/mariano-azuela-194-bloqe-architectura_dezeen_2364_col_14-852x1278.jpg\" alt=\"Mariano Azuela 194 by Bloqe Architectura\" width=\"1576\" height=\"2364\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>Bloqe Architectura has designed an apartment block in Mexico City<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The architectural vocabulary of its large manor houses \u2013 their openings, proportions and canopies \u2013 led us to design a neutral, timeless element that could enter into dialogue with its context,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloqe.mx\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Bloqe Architectura<\/a> told Dezeen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At the same time, we wanted the project to evoke quiet and retreat toward the interior through a sequence of patios.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2301814 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/mariano-azuela-194-bloqe-architectura_dezeen_2364_col_1-852x568.jpg\" alt=\"Mariano Azuela 194 by Bloqe Architectura\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1576\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>Barrel-vaulted spaces open onto rooftop gardens<\/p>\n<p>Vertical windows and a dark-coloured garage door mark the narrow, street-facing facade, with upper balconies set behind large concrete dividers in a sand-coloured finish.<\/p>\n<p>Behind the facade, the four-story project is organised into four compact blocks, separated by three interstitial patios and each topped with a barrel vault that runs parallel to the street.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2301841 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/mariano-azuela-194-bloqe-architectura_dezeen_2364_col_28-852x568.jpg\" alt=\"Aerial view of Mariano Azuela 194 by Bloqe Architectura\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1576\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>Mariano Azuela 194 is made up of four compact blocks<\/p>\n<p>Two rounded staircases separate the first and fourth bay, providing access to each of the apartments via latticed vertical circulation. One of the vaulted spaces contains a spiral staircase that cascades in green metal to the apartment below.<\/p>\n<p>Crafted with locally sourced materials and artisanal techniques, the project maintains a natural-toned colour palette with earthen wall finishes, handmade bricks and domestic marbles.<\/p>\n<p>The materials work &#8220;in harmony with the character and richness of traditional Mexican architecture,&#8221; the studio said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The architectural language of the project responds to the urban complexity of the site, which led us to create a historical continuity in the fa\u00e7ade and an urban continuity through the barrel vaults in the roof gardens, resulting in spaces to contemplate the urban context.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The earth tones, embedded garden strategies and breezy staircases of Bloqe Architectura&#8217;s design appear in other recently completed Mexico City apartment complexes, such as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2025\/10\/02\/crb-arquitectos-timber-apartment-building-mexico-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">timber apartment building<\/a> with a &#8220;vertical garden&#8221;
