Called Comfort View, the new mode is a part of the latest Pixel drop. It is designed to reduce visual fatigue caused by very bright or highly saturated colors, making the screen easier to look at for extended periods.

According to Google, Comfort View uses a refined color filtering approach rather than simply lowering brightness. The feature tones down intense and overly saturated colors to reduce visual stimulation. The goal is to create a softer, more comfortable viewing experience, and while we haven’t tried the feature ourselves yet, it sounds pretty similar to Samsung’s “Eye Comfort Shield” feature.

Don’t want to miss the best from Android Authority?

This isn’t Google’s first move toward improving display comfort on the Pixel 10 lineup. The Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL feature 480Hz PWM dimming, a welcome upgrade over previous generations, aimed at reducing flicker that can trigger eye strain or headaches in users with PWM sensitivity. Unfortunately, the standard Pixel 10 still sticks with 240Hz dimming.

For sensitive users, PWM frequency can make a noticeable difference, especially at lower brightness levels. With Comfort View layered on top, Google appears to be tackling eye comfort from both a hardware and software angle.

Comfort View will be available on the entire Pixel 10 flagship family, including the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. It’s not coming to the recently launched Pixel 10a.

Thank you for being part of our community.
