The\u00a0Alien\u00a0franchise continues on the small screen with\u00a0the \u201cFX on Hulu\u201d TV series\u00a0Alien: Earth, from\u00a0Fargo\u00a0creator Noah Hawley. The show premiered last August and quickly secured a renewal for a second season. Now, executive producer, director, and cinematographer Dana Gonzalez has confirmed that the Alien: Earth<\/a> season 2 world-building is underway, and it\u2019s taking place at Pinewood Studios in England \u2013 the same place where the original Alien was filmed!<\/p>\n

Reminder<\/p>\n

One of the first things we heard about the\u00a0Alien\u00a0TV series \u2013 and one of the most surprising things about it \u2013 is that it would be set on Earth (thus the title), a couple of decades before the events of the first movie. FX chairman John Landgraf said the show would take place \u201cright near the end of this century,\u201d which would put it \u201ca few years before\u00a0Prometheus,\u201d which Hawley has previously said he\u00a0has chosen not to acknowledge<\/a>. But the setting is actually 2120, which is just a couple of years before\u00a0Alien. In fact, if it goes on for multiple seasons, it might even overlap with the events of\u00a0Alien. <\/p>\n

Hawley decided to set the show on Earth\u00a0because<\/a>\u00a0\u201cThe alien stories are always trapped\u2026 Trapped in a prison, trapped in a space ship. I thought it would be interesting to open it up a little bit so that the stakes of \u2018What happens if you can\u2019t contain it?\u2019 are more immediate.\u201c Variety noted that the\u00a0TV series will \u201cexplore the formation of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and the race to create android life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alien: Earth\u00a0has the following synopsis:\u00a0When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet\u2019s greatest threat.\u00a0During the time the story takes place,\u00a0five corporations \u2013 Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold \u2013 wield the power of nations, and proprietary advancements in technology provide the promise of a new tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Sydney Chandler\u2019s\u00a0Alien: Earth\u00a0character is the meta-human Wendy, who has the body of an adult, but the brain and consciousness of a child. Her co-stars include Essie Davis (The Babadook) as Dame Sylvia, David Rysdahl (Fargo\u00a0season 5) as Dame Sylvia\u2019s husband Arthur, Alex Lawther (The End of the F*cking World) as a soldier called Hermit, who was Wendy\u2019s brother when she was in her original human form; Samuel Blenkin\u00a0(Black Mirror) as a CEO named Boy Kavalier, Adarsh Gourav\u00a0(The White Tiger) as a character named Slightly, Kit Young (Shadow and Bone) as a character called Tootles, Adrian Edmondson (The Young Ones) as Boy Kavalier\u2019s first lieutenant Atom Eins, Babou Ceesay (Guerrilla) as cyborg security officer Morrow, Di\u00eam Camille (Washington Black) as soldier Siberian, Moe Bar-El (The Peripheral) as soldier Rashidi, Jonathan Ajayi (Wonder Woman 1984) as the Hybrid called Smee, Erana James (The Wilds) as Curly, Lily Newmark (Sex Education) as Nibs, and Timothy Olyphant (Justified) Kirsh, a synth who acts as a mentor and trainer for Wendy.\u00a0Sandra Yi Sencindiver<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0Foundation\u00a0will be playing Yutani, \u201ca senior member of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation,\u201d in multiple episodes, and her role could be expanded as the series continues. The Lost Boys are a group of Hybrids, \u201cartificially made bodies containing a consciousness uploaded from the body of an actual human being,\u201d that were created and named after\u00a0Peter Pan\u00a0characters by Boy Kavalier. Wendy is one of them.<\/p>\n

Richa Moorjani\u00a0(Never Have I Ever), Karen Aldridge (Severance),\u00a0Enzo Cilenti (Game of Thrones),\u00a0Max Rinehart (Unforgotten),\u00a0Amir Boutrous (The Crown),\u00a0newcomer Victoria Masoma,\u00a0Tom Moya (Midsomer Murders),\u00a0Andy Yu (Mid-Love Crisis),\u00a0Michael Smiley (Bad Sisters),\u00a0Jamie Bisping\u00a0(Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power), and\u00a0Tanapol Chuksrida (The Green Deal) had guest roles.<\/p>\n

Season 2<\/p>\n

Gonzalez confirmed that work on Alien: Earth season 2 is underway with a post on Instagram<\/a>, where he showed his name on a plaque at Pinewood Studios. He wrote, \u201cSuper excited to start the journey of Alien: Earth season 2. World building in the Alien universe birthplace.\u201c<\/p>\n
