The White House\u2019s social media blurs the lines of reality, posting montages that wove snippets of Hollywood blockbusters and video games into real footage of military strikes on Iran.<\/p>\n

A 42-second video posted on X with the caption \u201cJustice the American way\u201d opens with a scene from \u201cIron Man\u201d and the line \u201cWake up, Daddy\u2019s home\u201d \u2014 perhaps a reference to an expression used by NATO chief Mark Rutte, who once referred to US President Donald Trump as \u201cdaddy.\u201d<\/p>\n

What follows, in rapid fire, are clips from male actors cast as heroes, including Tom Cruise in \u201cTop Gun: Maverick,\u201d Mel Gibson in \u201cBraveheart,\u201d Russell Crowe in \u201cGladiator,\u201d Bryan Cranston in \u201cBreaking Bad,\u201d and Keanu Reeves in \u201cJohn Wick.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hollywood\u2019s heroics are interspersed with footage released by the US military showing real strikes on various targets.<\/p>\n

Actor and filmmaker Ben Stiller on Friday called on the White House to remove a clip in the video from \u201cTropic Thunder,\u201d a satirical 2008 film about war movies that he directed and co-wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe never gave you permission and have no interest in being a part of your propaganda machine. War is not a movie,\u201d Stiller wrote on X.<\/p>\n

Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth also appears briefly, in a clip taken from a real briefing, where he says \u201cF-A\u201d before a clip from a \u201cTransformers\u201d movie says \u201ctime to find out,\u201d using a CGI autobot.<\/p>\n

The reference here is to a crude expression very popular in the Trump administration, used to describe its uncompromising attitude towards any adversary: \u201cF-A-F-O\u201d or \u201cFuck around and find out.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a second post, the White House interspersed real war footage with a scene from the video game \u201cGrand Theft Auto: San Andreas\u201d in which the player\u2019s character is heard repeatedly saying \u201cAh shit, here we go again,\u201d before footage of strikes on Iranian targets.<\/p>\n
