The wife of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Rama Duwaji, liked social media posts celebrating the Hamas invasion of Israel on October 7, 2023, Jewish Insider revealed Friday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Duwaji liked a post on Instagram that showed photos of Palestinians breaching Israel\u2019s borders and said the invasion was \u201cbreaking the walls of apartheid.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another post she liked showed Palestinians sitting on a captured IDF vehicle alongside the caption, \u201cResisting apartheid since 1948.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those posts were shared on the day of the Hamas attack.<\/p>\n

Duwaji also liked two posts supporting protests against Israel the day after the attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy wife is the love of my life,\u201d Mamdani said at a press conference when asked about the report, \u201cand she\u2019s also a private person who has held no formal position on my campaign or in my City Hall.\u201d<\/p>\n

There was no immediate comment from Duwaji. The couple began dating in 2021 and married last year.<\/p>\n

Inflammatory social media activity<\/a> by members of Mamdani\u2019s staff and inner circle, much of it directed at Israel, has caused repeated controversy since he launched his run for mayor last year.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, The New York Times reported<\/a> that the wife of US Representative Dan Goldman, who is Jewish, liked social media posts immediately after October 7 that criticized Jews who supported the Palestinians, suggested people supporting the Palestinians be sent to Gaza, and called Black Lives Matter a \u201cterrorist organization\u201d because one of its chapters celebrated the Hamas onslaught.<\/p>\n

New York City councilmember Inna Vernikov, a Jewish Republican, criticized the New York Times report, saying, \u201cWill the \u2018paper of record\u2019 ask [Mamdani] a single question on this? THEY WON\u2019T.\u201d<\/p>\n

The New York Times later covered the issue, framing the pro-October 7 posts as \u201csupport for the Palestinian cause.\u201d<\/p>\n
