defence tech and quantum computing amid top names in both themes driving eye-catching returns in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-base break-words text-left font-normal text-inherit\">The $115m <a class=\"text-primary-500 hover:underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.etfstream.com\/etf-screener\/ITEP\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HAN-GINS Tech Megatrend Equal Weight UCITS ETF<\/a> (ITEK) has added 19 stocks across quantum computing and defence tech sectors and will now include 10 tech themes, up from eight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-base break-words text-left font-normal text-inherit\">ITEK will add four quantum computing stocks including posterchild IonQ which has returned 66.9% year to date, according to Google Finance, while Rigetti Computing and D-Wave Quantum Inc, two other pure play quantum computing stocks in ITEK, are up 41.9% and 167.1% year-to-date, respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-base break-words text-left font-normal text-inherit\">The move comes after VanEck unveiled Europe&#8217;s first quantum computing ETF in May, with ETF Stream <a class=\"text-primary-500 hover:underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.etfstream.com\/articles\/whereas quantum devices rely on qubits which can be represented as ones, zeros or through superposition \u2013 the ability to be in multiple things at once \u2013 they can appear as a mix of the two simultaneously.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reporting <\/a>last month that WisdomTree and Allfunds were plotting launches in the space.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-base break-words text-left font-normal text-inherit\">A quantum computer can solve certain problems particularly quickly because, unlike conventional computers which rely on binary digits called bits as their units of information, quantum computers rely on qubits, which can be represented as ones, zeros or through superposition \u2013 the ability to be in multiple things at once \u2013 they can appear as a mix of the two simultaneously. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text-base break-words text-left font-normal text-inherit\">Meanwhile, ITEK will also include 15 names from the in-vogue defence tech sector including Astroscale \u2013 which focuses on debris removal from space satellites \u2013 Italian aerospace company Avio and Toronto and New York-listed training and simulation tech company CAE.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-base break-words text-left font-normal text-inherit\">Defence stocks have racked up strong gains in 2025, fuelled by a steady stream of government spending commitments, including NATO\u2019s pledge to lift defence budgets to 5% of GDP.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-base break-words text-left font-normal text-inherit\">ITEK tracks the Solactive Innovative Technologies index and its top three sector weightings include blockchain (13.7%), digital entertainment (12.1%) and social media (11.3%), while its top three country weightings are the US (52.2%), China (14.7%) and Japan (8.2%).<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-base break-words text-left font-normal text-inherit\">ITEK\u2019s other eight themes include blockchain, cloud computing, cyber security, future cars, genomics, AI and robotics, social media and digital entertainment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-base break-words text-left font-normal text-inherit\">WisdomTree also added quantum computing to its WisdomTree Megatrends UCITS ETF (WMGT) in April this year, with the theme delivering a 62.9% return from 22 April 22 to 18 July 18, making it the second-best performer in the strategy after nuclear energy and ahead of blockchain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-base break-words text-left font-normal text-inherit\">ITEK has shown cumulative returns of 118.7% since its inception in 2018 and 17.7% year to date returns.
