The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have taken a page from Donald Trump\u2019s book by using a band\u2019s song without their prior authorisation for a propaganda video<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The IDF have used Franz Ferdinand\u2019s 2004 hit song \u2018Take Me Out\u2019 in a new video, with the song playing over footage of fighter planes and ground explosions \u2013 while an Israeli soldier praises their deadly airstrikes. <\/p>\n

The IDF have labelled the post: \u201cOperation Roaring Lion \u2013 this is how it\u2019s done.\u201d <\/p>\n

Franz Ferdinand\u2019s frontman Alex Kapranos has responded to the video, posting on his Instagram Stories: \u201cThese warmongering murderers are using our music without our consent. This makes us both nauseous and furious. Kind of typical though, isn\u2019t it? To strut up and take what isn\u2019t theirs with a vile arrogance\u2026\u201d <\/p>\n

Recently, one of the writers of \u2018La Macarena\u2019 has spoken out against the unauthorised use of the song in a White House social media video<\/a> showing bombings in Operation Epic Fury in Iran. <\/p>\n

Antonio Romero Monge, author of the legendary song and one of the members of the duo Los del R\u00edo, said he felt “profound discomfort” after the video went viral. <\/p>\n

On 28 February, Israel and the US launched joint airstrikes across Iran, killing the country\u2019s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and targeting hundreds of military sites, and a girl\u2019s school. <\/p>\n

There have been calls for an independent investigation into the attack on the school which killed 165 young pupils, with United Nations experts denouncing the deadly bombing as \u201ca grave assault on children\u201d. <\/p>\n

In a statement last Friday, a group of UN experts said girls between the ages of seven and 12 were the main victims of the attack on the primary school in Minab on the first day of the United States and Israel\u2019s war against Iran. <\/p>\n

\u201cAn attack on a functioning school during class hours raises the most serious concerns under international law and must be urgently, independently, and effectively investigated, with accountability for any violations,\u201d they said. \u201cThere is no excuse for killing girls in a classroom.\u201d <\/p>\n
