{"id":329825,"date":"2026-03-09T12:39:11","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T12:39:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/329825\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T12:39:11","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T12:39:11","slug":"news-quote-ten-days-of-conflict-claim-lives-of-10-classrooms-full-of-children-with-83-killed-in-lebanon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/329825\/","title":{"rendered":"NEWS QUOTE: Ten days\u00a0of conflict claim\u00a0lives of\u00a010\u00a0classrooms full of children\u00a0with 83 killed in Lebanon\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\" x_elementToProof\">BEIRUT,\u00a09 March 2026\u00a0\u2013 Ten\u00a0days\u00a0since\u00a0the\u00a0first strikes\u00a0in the\u00a0Middle East and wider region\u00a083\u00a0children have been killed in\u00a0Lebanon,\u00a0according to the Ministry of Public health,\u00a0and\u00a0almost\u00a0300 children have been killed in the region\u00a0\u2013 the\u00a0equivalent to\u00a010\u00a0classrooms full of children.\u00a0[1]<br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\" x_elementToProof\">Over\u00a0700,000 people,\u00a0including over 200,000 children,\u00a0have been displaced in Lebanon,\u00a0according to the Ministry of Social Affairs.\u00a0[2]<\/p>\n<p class=\" x_elementToProof\">Save the Children is urgently calling for\u00a0a cessation\u00a0of hostilities to protect children from further harm.\u00a0 Save the Children\u00a0is\u00a0distributing\u00a0essential items such as\u00a0blankets, mattresses, pillows, baby supplies,\u00a0hygiene items\u00a0and water to\u00a0displaced\u00a0families.<\/p>\n<p class=\" x_elementToProof\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\" x_elementToProof\">Nora Ingdal,\u00a0Save the Children\u2019s Country Director for\u00a0Lebanon, said:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\" x_elementToProof\">\u201cIt is devastating that airstrikes in Lebanon have\u00a0reportedly caused\u00a0the deaths of 83 children with another 254 injured\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0among\u00a0nearly 300\u00a0children\u00a0killed in the region.\u00a0These are not just numbers \u2013 these are young lives cut short and children whose futures have been forever scarred by war.<\/p>\n<p class=\" x_elementToProof\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\" x_elementToProof\">Airstrikes and forced displacement orders\u00a0are forcing\u00a0families to flee in\u00a0huge numbers.\u00a0Over 700,000\u00a0people have\u00a0reportedly been\u00a0displaced in Lebanon, stripping children of\u00a0almost everything\u00a0that keeps them\u00a0safe \u2013 their homes, their schools, their\u00a0communities\u00a0and\u00a0the routines that bring stability to their lives. Many have already experienced years of instability and displacement, and this escalation is deepening the trauma they carry.<\/p>\n<p class=\" x_elementToProof\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\" x_elementToProof\">Every war is a war on children, and once again we are seeing them pay the highest price for a conflict they neither started nor had a say in. Wars have laws, and children must be off limits in every conflict. World leaders must act urgently to prevent further escalation. There must be an immediate cessation of hostilities, and all parties must uphold international humanitarian law and do everything in their power to protect civilians \u2013 especially children.\u201d<br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\" x_elementToProof\">Save the Children is\u00a0responding across the region,\u00a0with programmes\u00a0in Lebanon, the occupied Palestinian territory, Syria, Iraq, Yemen,\u00a0Afghanistan\u00a0and Pakistan. In Lebanon, our teams are distributing hygiene kits, baby kits,\u00a0mattresses\u00a0and blankets to families newly displaced by the escalation. In oPt, we are\u00a0maintaining\u00a0emergency cash\u00a0assistance\u00a0where markets allow and keeping\u00a0mother\u2011baby\u00a0areas open to support infant and maternal nutrition.
