After years rising up the ranks in the UK music scene, the London-born singer shot to international stardom in late 2024 when her song \u201cMessy\u201d went viral on TikTok.<\/p>\n
Around this same period, Young, 25, had also spent five weeks in rehabilitation for cocaine addiction; the following summer, amid Young\u2019s packed festival schedule, her manager said that the former Brit School student had relapsed and gone back to treatment.<\/p>\n

Things came to a head in September, one week after the release of her third album<\/a>, when Young collapsed on stage at All Things Go festival<\/a> in New York. One week later, the singer cancelled all her tour dates for the foreseeable future, saying that she was \u201cgoing away for a while\u201d.<\/p>\n In a new interview with Rolling Stone<\/a>, Young revealed that, following her dramatic moment on stage, she checked herself into a holistic facility for two months, and has since been attending AA meetings and has a sponsor.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a decision\u2026 that I had to make, and it was sad that I had to do that,\u201d she said of cancelling her tour dates. \u201cWhat else was I going to do, die? That was the reality of where my addiction was heading.\u201d<\/p>\n open image in gallery<\/p>\n Singer opened up about getting treatment for addiction (AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n While the experience of collapsing was deeply unpleasant, Young \u2013 who has schizoaffective disorder and ADHD \u2013 said that she was \u201cvery grateful\u201d for it all the same.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was, what do you call that? Like, a breaking point which allowed me to then be able to be here today, allowed me to be better for my fans, better for the future, and better for myself,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Addiction has been a frequent topic in Young\u2019s music, from the self-explanatory \u201cD3aler\u201d to referring to herself as a \u201cdumb little addict\u201d in \u201cNot Like That Anymore\u201d.<\/p>\n open image in gallery<\/p>\n Young won a Grammy and Brit Award in February (Gareth Cattermole\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m just writing what I\u2019m feeling, and then I\u2019ll realise later, \u2018Oh, f***. I shouldn\u2019t have said that I\u2019m a raging drug addict,\u2019\u201d she told Rolling Stone. \u201cThen I\u2019m like, \u2018You know what? I am.
