But, seems like Anushka and Virat couldn’t care less about the spotlight. In a candid chat with film critic Anupama Chopra, Anushka spoke about their marriage\u2014high-octane careers, which are grounded in spirituality over stardom. No pedestal poses, just two souls seeing each other as “male and female versions” of one self. Here’s what she said:<\/p>\n

“We are not attached to what we do”<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are both not so attached to what we do,\u201d Anushka shared plainly. While they have dazzling careers\u2014Virat’s centuries, her films\u2014but the couple believes that their achievements don’t define them. \u201cWe don\u2019t see each other as two different people\u2026 we are male and female versions of each other,\u201d she said. Instead, the couple prefers to have a simple and spiritually-inclined lives; no ego games. <\/p>\n

For them, this detachment isn’t apathy\u2014it’s freedom. Explaining this, Anushka further said, “If someone comes and tells me, \u2018I loved your performance\u2019, I don\u2019t feel much. If someone says, \u2018Pari didn\u2019t do that much business\u2019, again, I don\u2019t feel anything. It\u2019s in between. It\u2019s practice.\u201d Balance mastered, Anushka-Virat seem to sidestep their careers’ highs or lows, staying steady amid life’s chaos.<\/p>\n

Ditching the ‘Power Couple’ myth<\/p>\n

\"Virat Bollywood loves “power couple” tags\u2014and Anushka and Virat are one of them. But, surprisingly, the couple doesn’t view themselves as one! \u201cWe don\u2019t see ourselves like that. If we started to, then there\u2019s something really wrong in the nature of our relationship,” she said. At a time when labels inflate egos, seems like Anushka and Virat deflate them by choosing simplicity in their everyday life.Fame feels foreign, Anushka further shared as she said, \u201cWe are both very awkward with the fame that we have. We don\u2019t embrace stardom and fame\u2026 we run away sometimes\u2026 find the need to be in our own cocoon.\u201dThe spiritually-inclined couple seem to follow the eternal truth from the Bhagavad Gita, ‘Always perform your duty efficiently and without attachment to the results, because by doing work without attachment, one attains the Supreme.’ For them, when their duty calls, they answer\u2014then vanish into normalcy.
