{"id":337579,"date":"2026-03-13T17:42:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-13T17:42:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/337579\/"},"modified":"2026-03-13T17:42:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T17:42:08","slug":"medicine-worth-25k-thrown-out-as-fridge-left-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/337579\/","title":{"rendered":"Medicine worth \u00a325k thrown out as fridge left open"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Board papers noted that the costs of pharmacy items, wastage and write-offs &#8220;remained a concern&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The committee report read: &#8220;The committee was advised of a pharmacy fridge door which was recently inadvertently left ajar and led to \u00a325,000 of medication being rendered unusable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;However, regarding pharmacy wastage, it was noted that several mitigations had been identified which could save a significant amount of money for the trust; a business case was in the process of being developed, which if successful, would increase the capacity for medicines recycling, leading to less wastage.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A SaTH spokesperson said the trust &#8220;is committed to reducing waste to ensure value for money&#8221; and is always looking for new opportunities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">They added: &#8220;The overall cost of pharmacy waste remains around the trust&#8217;s target and while it has increased slightly, this is due to an increase in costs of purchasing medicines.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Board papers noted that the costs of pharmacy items, wastage and write-offs &#8220;remained a concern&#8221;.
