Tesla<\/a> to audit xAI, who let go of several employees whose work was deemed inadequate, according to FT.<\/p>\nCo-founder \u200cGuodong Zhang, head of xAI’s \u2060Imagine team, told colleagues he was leaving after being blamed for issues with the coding product and relieved of his primary duties \u2060by Musk, the report said, citing two people familiar with the decision.<\/p>\n
He confirmed his departure in a post on X on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Zihang Dai, another co-founder, reportedly left xAI earlier this week. \u200bThe exits \u200bleave the three-year-old AI company with only \u200btwo of its 12 co-founders \u200cwho helped Musk set up xAI in March 2023, according to the report.<\/p>\n
SpaceX, which purchased xAI to create a $1.25 trillion company, did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.<\/p>\n
XAI staff have complained that the upheaval is damaging morale and standing in the way of it reaching full potential, the FT report said.<\/p>\n
Researchers \u200ccontinue to leave because of burnout because of \u200bMusk’s “extremely hardcore” work demands or after receiving better \u200boffers from rivals.<\/p>\n
Recruiters have been \u200bcontacting candidates who had previously been rejected to extend job \u200coffers, often with improved financial terms, the \u200breport said.<\/p>\n
“Many talented \u200bpeople over the past few years were declined an offer or even an interview at xAI. My apologies,” Musk said in an X post on \u200bFriday, adding that he \u200cwill reach back out to promising candidates.<\/p>\n
xAI bought in Andrew Milich and \u200bJason Ginsberg from code-generation startup Cursor on Thursday.<\/p>\n
