Seth Meyers<\/a> on Thursday called President Donald Trump<\/a> a \u201cgenius marketer\u201d \u2015 all in the name of sarcasm, of course. (Watch the video below.)<\/p>\n

The \u201cLate Night\u201d host was leading into the president\u2019s new campaign to recast<\/a> the U.S. war against Iran as an \u201cexcursion<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I know what happened here,\u201d Meyers said. \u201cTrump was calling it a war, which is very unpopular. So someone on his team told him to call it an incursion<\/a>. But his brain is oatmeal, so he heard \u2018excursion<\/a>,\u2019 and no one corrected him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut seriously, an excursion?\u201d Meyers continued. \u201cDid you see it on a brochure at the rental car place between snorkeling and cave tours? A war is not an excursion. An excursion is apple-picking, which we all know is worse than a war.\u201d<\/p>\n

The late-night comedian found a way to detour to another matter that has been dogging the president.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn excursion is when you go whale watching in the Bahamas or when you take a boat trip to Epstein\u2019s island, WHICH HE DIDN\u2019T DO,\u201d Meyers emphasized.<\/p>\n

But according to the thousands of mentions of Trump in the Justice Department files on Jeffrey Epstein, \u201cAll he did was fly on Epstein\u2019s plane eight times and called him a terrific guy and sent him a lewd birthday card, and Epstein called him his closest friend for 10 years, and they partied together at Mar-a-Lago,\u201d the host said as video footage of Trump and Epstein together appeared on screen.<\/p>\n

Meyers then asked for the video clip to be redacted to appease the Department of Justice. But that didn\u2019t quite work.<\/p>\n
