\n Marjorie Grange, 99, visited St Luke\u2019s Hospital in Bradford as part of the #NeverTooLate initiative run by Crossley House Bupa Care Home, where she now lives.\n<\/p>\n
\n Marjorie\u00a0trained as a nurse at St Luke\u2019s and spent her career caring for people from all walks of life.\n<\/p>\n
\n During her visit, she was warmly welcomed by the team on ward F5, who spent time chatting with her, looking through old photographs of her in her nurse\u2019s uniform.\n<\/p>\n
\n Deborah Stewart, senior activity coordinator at Crossley House Bupa Care Home, said: “The team were very interested in Marjorie\u2019s career and enjoyed looking at old photos and reminiscing with her.\n<\/p>\n
\n “We do our best to plan meaningful activities for our residents, especially those that allow them to reminisce on the past and engage with the local community.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Marjorie\u00a0said the visit brought back many fond memories.\n<\/p>\n
\n She said: “It was so nice to meet today\u2019s nurses.\n<\/p>\n
\n “I spoke to them about my time as a nurse and they listened with interest.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Looking at the old photos made me very proud.\n<\/p>\n
\n “I can\u2019t believe how young I looked.”\n<\/p>\n

\n Karen Morris, ward clerk at St Luke\u2019s, said: “It was a pleasure to meet Marjorie today.\n<\/p>\n
\n “She is so kind-hearted and I can see why she was such a great nurse.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The team from Crossley House even brought a breakfast hamper for the ward, which was so generous of them.”\n<\/p>\n
\n After the visit, Ms Grange and the care home team walked along the Reflection Walk, a corridor decorated with paintings designed to evoke memories for people with dementia and memory impairments.\n<\/p>\n
\n Reflecting on her long career,\u00a0Marjorie\u00a0offered advice for today\u2019s nurses.\n<\/p>\n
\n She said: “Work hard and stay focused.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Nursing is a very rewarding job.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Marjorie\u00a0will celebrate her 100th birthday on March 23, and the Crossley House team is hoping to mark the occasion by collecting 100 cards from the community.\n<\/p>\n
