\n\tDiane Keaton<\/a> was honored during the Oscars<\/a>\u2018 In Memoriam tribute on Sunday night. <\/p>\n

\n\tRachel McAdams, who starred alongside Keaton in \u201cThe Family Stone,\u201d took the stage to honor a few of the stars who died this year, including her costar.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFor over 50 years, luminous on screen and indelible in life, believe me when I say there isn\u2019t an actress of my generation who is not inspired by and enthralled with her absolute singularity,\u201d said McAdams. \u201cShe wore so many hats, literally and figuratively, actress, artist, author, activist, but no hat more important to her than being a mother to her two children. She meant so much to so many of us. I remember she used to sing this old Girl Scout song she used to sing on set, which is just so her: \u2018Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, and the other is gold. A circle is round, it has no end. That\u2019s how long I\u2019ll be your friend.\u2019 And so to our friend, Diane Keaton, celebrating a life in silver and gold, a legend with no end.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKeaton, who died in October 2025<\/a> of bacterial pneumonia, was a four-time Academy Award nominee for Best Actress, taking home the trophy for \u201cAnnie Hall\u201d in 1978. She built up a beloved presence in Hollywood over her five-decade career, starring in the \u201cGodfather\u201d trilogy, \u201cSomething\u2019s Gotta Give,\u201d and \u201cThe First Wives Club.\u201d Her other notable film roles included \u201cFather of the Bride,\u201d\u00a0\u201cManhattan,\u201d and\u00a0\u201cBaby Boom.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso honored during the In Memoriam segment were Rob Reiner, Robert Duvall, and Diane Ladd, among others.<\/p>\n

\n\tAhead of the ceremony, Oscars producers Raj Kapoor\u00a0and Katy Mullan\u00a0spoke to Variety<\/a> about the decision to extend the In Memoriam segment.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s everything from graphic design to titles to placement, because it all matters,\u201d said Kapoor. \u201cWho follows who, where those beats happen \u2014 it\u2019s very nuanced. The team that puts together the film is almost working all the way up to the show because there are so many changes and revisions. It\u2019s a chance for people to say goodbye. It\u2019s a chance for them to see some of their favorite people one more time, and it\u2019s a memory. We don\u2019t take it lightly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKeaton\u2019s death hit hard in Hollywood, where friends and fans shared tributes to the star. <\/p>\n

\n\tHer \u201cThe First Wives Club\u201d co-star Bette Midler\u00a0posted on Threads<\/a>\u00a0a carousel of photos of them together and wrote, \u201cThe brilliant, beautiful, extraordinary Diane Keaton has died. I cannot tell you how unbearably sad this makes me.<\/p>\n

\n\tFellow \u201cThe First Wives Club\u201d co-star\u00a0Goldie Hawn\u00a0paid tribute to the actress with an\u00a0Instagram\u00a0<\/a>post that she captioned, \u201cI was blessed to make \u2018First Wives Club\u2019 with you. Our days starting with coffee in the makeup trailer, laughing and joking, right through to the very last day of filming. It was a roller coaster of love.\u201d<\/p>\n
