{"id":342482,"date":"2026-03-16T18:54:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-16T18:54:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/342482\/"},"modified":"2026-03-16T18:54:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T18:54:09","slug":"sonys-ai-graphics-upscaling-for-ps5-pro-games-is-getting-a-big-update-tonight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/342482\/","title":{"rendered":"Sony\u2019s AI graphics upscaling for PS5 Pro games is getting a big update tonight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Sony\u2019s upgraded PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology is rolling out to <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.playstation.com\/2026\/03\/16\/upgraded-pssr-rolling-out-to-silent-hill-f-monster-hunter-wilds-final-fantasy-vii-rebirth-crimson-desert-and-more\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">several titles on the PS5 Pro<\/a>, including Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Silent Hill 2, and more. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalfoundry.net\/features\/tested-ps5-pros-upgraded-pssr-put-through-its-paces-on-four-top-tier-games\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Digital Foundry got a chance<\/a> to test some of them and found that the \u201cnew upscaler delivers the kind of upgrade we were looking for from PS5 Pro.\u201d Problems with shimmering, flickering, and other visual artifacts have been addressed, and they said it now delivers crisper and more consistent in-game graphics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">This is the first upgrade we\u2019ve seen from AMD and Sony\u2019s combined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/12\/18\/24324317\/amd-playstation-ai-work-better-graphics-project-amethyst\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Project Amethyst<\/a> work on improving the effect of rendering a game at a lower resolution, then using AI trained on graphics to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/1\/14\/22884124\/nvidia-deep-learning-dynamic-super-resolution-game-ready-driver-ai-upscaling\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">analyze each frame and upscale it<\/a>, delivering improved quality on the same hardware without reducing the framerate. The upgraded PSSR is included with the latest PS5 system software update, which will start rolling out \u201cin phases\u201d on March 17th at 1AM ET, and Sony says its improvements will also improve AMD\u2019s next FSR update when that rolls out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Assassin\u2019s Creed Shadows and Cyberpunk 2077 will also get a patch with the PSSR update in the \u201ccoming weeks,\u201d while CrimsonDesert will adopt the tech when the game launches on March 19th, according to Sony.
