The Timex<\/a> Camper is a 43-year-old model that has become a staple of the American watchmaker’s line-up, loved for its light weight, minimalist military-inspired design and affordability. Now, in a collaboration with Japanese brand BEAMS BOY, they’ve given it a revamp that dips into one of the most divisive trends of the year.<\/p>\n

Timex<\/a> and BEAMS BOY have just revealed that they’re releasing a new Camper ring watch to celebrate BEAMS’ 50th anniversary. This isn’t the designer’s first ring-watch-rodeo, as they’ve previously partnered with MM6 Maison Margiela<\/a> on a design and released three mini Cavatina ring watches. They’re not the only brand to hop onto the trend, with the likes of Casio<\/a> and Breda releasing takes on the ring watch in their respective styles.<\/p>\n

Their ring watch retains a lot of the features of the original: it has the same lightweight resin case in a deep olive green colour, and a crown at three o’clock to adjust the time. However, instead of the regular Camper’s nylon strap, it has a stainless steel expansion band which is suitable for people between ring sizes 9 and 15.<\/p>\n

Available on April 3rd, it’s priced at \u00a519,140, which is equivalent to just over \u00a390. Neither brand has confirmed which markets will receive the ring watch, but it is currently available to reserve in BEAMS stores across Japan. In TIMEX Japan’s official Instagram post announcing the release, they said that fans have been asking for this for years, perhaps proving that ring watches might be more than just a passing trend.
